From: Ace Albion Well, they can make excuses about people fearing change all they like. It doesn't change the basic fact that forcing a vertical list into a horizontally biased interface element is just really bizarre. Or a horizontally based lines of text medium into a vertical interface. People get lazy when they encounter lots of text (and don't read it), this occurs around 10 to 15 lines--depending on how interesting the read. It doesn't matter how LONG each line is, just how many of them.

The other cute thing I found about this last night: OK, so I pop my chat history out so I can get back to the Old Functionality. New IMs pop up in the communicate window, so I leave that alone, because IMs spawn off the communicate window, and this way they all stack up alongside each other as usual. Of course, now all my IMs are restricted by the minimum size requirement for a friends list window I can't see and have enough grumbles about, the result being that I can't shrink my IM windows down to about four lines worth of history as I'd like to. Because of some other, non-relevant interface element. Unless I keep unpicking windows. I have a strong feeling that this bundling up of the windows was someone's Big Neat Idea, and it will take more than feedback that can be brushed off as reactionary to change it or improve it. I also expect it was someone who doesn't have to deal with a lot of IMs. Like a Linden who never shows online or accessible, perhaps?

So now it boils down to "we now longer are trying ot prevent this from being released like this", but now "we need to get them to change it back". Thanks again LL once again for not thinking, ignoring customer requests, and doing something incredibly stupid that ruins our SL experience once again. This is Soooo going on my blog. You know, LL almost started having my support... Lets hope that one of the 3rd party clients reverts this horrible crap.
