The Windlight version may be just a completely seperate client altogether once integrated in mainstream, could even stay with firstlook. With my FX 5500 card I cannot run Windlight won't even get past the initializing world section of the loading. So what I am thinking is that if they do integrate this into the main client, they will probably have an option that you can use to turn off the windlight graphical display or, as I said earlier, keep it as an entirely seperate client.

I hope you are right, but their stated intent is to get Windlight working and have it be the complete replacement for the current sky system. For those of us who don't have hardware that Windlight will work on by that time, well, we're just screwed. I am perfectly happy with the current shy system and clouds, though I would happily do away with the recent enlargement of the sun. The rest of SL's skies are fine for most purposes. What I would prefer would be Windlight as an option that can be turned off - like ripple water. But again, I seriously doubt LL will do that, and they have stated so far that they will NOT allow the old skies and clouds to work once Windlight goes live.

Are you basing that on anything? In the initial blog post there is a question that deals with reverting back to the current "old" sky and it was pointed out that is simply not going to be an option. From: someone But… I’m going to miss the old sky! Can I revert back to it? No.

I don't know if it's just my machine or Windlight in general, but I was horrified to discover that the atmosperic color settings affect prims in world very much, while not affecting terrain at all.
Like, say, we have our nice rusty colored prim rocks in our rusty colored sandstone canyon.
Apply the default midday settings.
Now we have our unusually sky-blue-colored prim rocks in our..... rusty colored sandstone canyon.

That just means it's not an option in the current viewer. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-960 < It's going to be an option in the next First Look viewer. From: Torley Linden *BigPapi hits this one in...* "Classic clouds" option added so you can choose! Defaults to off. This will hopefully help ease the transition towards better skies + atmospheres. Watch for it in the next First Look: WindLight.
