1.20.x now CRASH, previous ALWAYS works fine

I CANNOT STILL USE SL VIEWER 1.20!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!

The new SL viewer 1.20.x for me.....CRASH!!!!
Previous versione 1.18.x - 1.19.x ALWAYS works fine : i was in SL for DAYS without problems.

Now, and for the moment i dont want to talk about the HORRIBLE new gui look, i can't in SL for more the 10-15 MINUTES...after this time my screen become back, the NVIDIA driver crash (nvlddmkm was killed and restarted) then i receive this error window message :

I'm using VISTA HP, Q6600, GeForce 8600 GS 512 Mb
I'm also absolutely sure that the new HORRIBLE gui was the cause.

Anyone with the same problem ?
Some workaround ?
Some solution ?

The previous version ran wounderfully, rarely ever crashed. Now with the new release the gui is distracting and it crashes every 30 seconds - 3 mins. It is VERY frustrating and VERY unstable. We need to revert back to the old viewer this new release is the worst release I have ever encountered since joining nearly 2 years ago.

You're not alone, I can't run it.. Some areas cause me to crash on login! I have the same computer as you.. Q6600, 8600GT and the rest..

Me too , worst viewer ever. I always crash every 2 hours since i'm in SL beginning 2007. But with dazzle it comes to new dimensions .. some trees, objects, avatars whatevery let the viewer crash. so i'm in a deadlock start - crash - login - fly to the location i was befor the crash - look in the same direction as befor the crash - crash goto start

This viewer is ridiculous, graphics just being one of the problems, nothing in preferences stays applied i am constantly turning off message logging and yet it stays and what is with the new message log system all messages staying logged even after a restart (if the person you IMed has it installed as well) bloody stupid idea i have cleared the caches and yet still all there.

Crash rates are appalling

Get your act together put us back on the old viewer

Add me to the list of people who HATE the new 1.20 release candidate. I actually went out and bought a brand new laptop with a high end "supported" nvidia card w/ dedicated RAM and have 3G of system RAM to run "Windlight." Prior to that my 32M ATI equipped laptop crashed frequently using the release client.

1.19 ran like a dream. ZERO client-related crashes. 1.20 crashes constantly. Add these crashes to the general instabillity of the SL Grid and it makes using SL almost more trouble than it's worth.

I came to SL hoping to find a platform to take my web marketing and e-commerce business to the "next level." In the RW, these kinds of systems are expected to have "Five Nines" (99.999%) reliabillity. At this point I would be hard pressed to propose using SL for any type of serious cross border RW/SL business solution!

Last update changed how xml save to settings work , to bad it messes up more then work.

If you used -settings on your SL shortcuit, remove it and delete any .xml in

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\SecondLife\user_settings

^ This does not get removed even if you uninstall, -settings parameter set to a SL shortcuit will pretty much crash me in seconds on login now -bravo-

-settings bob.xml would make a file named bob.xml with default settings before, if you use it now however SL client is just likly to crash on you instead.

I'm also having this same problem. Minus the strong distates for the new UI. I actually quite like it. I also have a nvidia 8600GT, 512mb. I've got an intel duo core processor, 2.6ghz. 2 gigabytes of ram on a windows XP system.

I agree with everyone else here, the new veiwer is the worst I have come across yet and there have been a lot of updates to the viewers since i joined a few months ago. all have been unstable but i put that down to my pc not being as good as it could be. however with the number of complaints i have heard and the ammount of problems i am personaly having i don't think it is just my pc anymore.
Bring back the older veiwers let us choose which one we want to use. Not everyone in real life can afford to update their pc's with each new upgrade to SL how about LL thinks about the common people for a change

I am getting exactly the same thing...today its happening every 10 minutes or so its very worrying and ....yes I know this will sound daft, but Im sure it isnt good for my poor system

OK I might be a bit premature with this but I went to graphics tab in preferences and ticked the custom box....then I unchecked

bump mapping and shiny
basic shaders
and draw distance down to 128

Quality and performance slider still on high and so far (over an hour)......
no crashes.

I'm crashing every 30 min or so. ATI card HD2600XT. Tried deleting the XML files, etc, lowing graphics to low. No help. Suggestions appreciated.

cant use the new 1.20 Version.
Crashes in about seconds. Even not enough time..to change graphic settings.
I have a 8800 GTS 384 MB, and a Core2 2,6 Pentium, 2 GB of Memory.

All versions before were good. I loved the new Look of 1.20....but its not running.

It actually is something to do with the nvidia driver. Hopefully a fix will come soon!

I am having similar problems. Both in regular SL and with the candidate release.
Nvidia 8600 GT with 1 Gig of Ram...Core 2 7300 Intel (dual 2.53ghz), MB=GF7050VT-M with 2 gig RAM(800mhz), Vista SP1.
I last about 10 minutes IF I can get past the login screen. then either the bluescreen of death and reboot or MSC++ abnormal termination error or SL stops responding with black screen OR just dumps out and sends a crash log.

i am so not going to use this version any longer , it make walking arouns or using your cam harder then chinese arithmatic , i feel like a newbie again try to stop and i keep going try to turn around to the right and ended up left , then did a 180 when i tried to correct myself , i'm looking for thr roll back feature 4real ,lol asking myself what will they think of next

It's not the NVIDIA driver. I've used both 1.169 and the current drivers with the 1.20 RC viewers right up through 1.20.14 without problems (8800GTS 320 card from ega). I appreciate that some people are having problems with the new viewer, but in my view it is not widespread. For me, 1.20 works MUCH better than previous viewers.

I'm sorry...I wish I had some clue as to why some people are having problems!

Updating to 175 worked for me, it was crash city with 169.
