I am getting a flash about every minute with the new RC. It makes the screen go black for just a second, but does it frequently enough to be very distracting. I like the UI and new features and all is working well for me except that one issue.
Running Windows Vista 32bit AMD 64 X2 Dual Core 5200+ GeForce 8600 GT (512 memory)

I was getting that flash, too.. The new RC really doesn't like my machine - think it's the worst I've seen yet for me. CPU: AMD (Unknown model) (2611 MHz) Memory: 2048 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (Build 2600) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce 7800 GT/PCI/SSE2/3DNOW! OpenGL Version: 2.1.2 LLMozLib Version: [LLMediaImplLLMozLib] - 2.01.14360 (Mozilla GRE version 1.8.1.13_0000000000) Viewer Digest: bb2966f6-cf81-a0de-1e21-dcd21f05428a edit: Help menu -> About Second Life gives a nice, sorta standard way of getting your interesting machine specs.

Hi... I get it too.. flashing to black for a split-second every minute or so. Driving me crazy I cant use the RC. It does it in wondowed and full-screen mode.
Running XP Pro SP2 P4 2.8GHz, 1GB memory ATI X1950Pro 512MB, CAT 7.10
Played with different settings in graphics prefs but no different. Gone back to 1.19 ... no problems there !!!!

I have it too, though it's not every minute, more like every 5 or 10 sometimes.
XP Home 2 Gig RAM Intel Q6600 Quad Core 2.4 GHz CPU GeForce 8600 GT (512 memory) -- Same as OP
I also crash a lot more with this release than any other, especially with bump mapping and shiny turned on.

You're all not alone. Anyone who sees this problem should vote and maybe leave a comment on the two main jira entries for this problem. One duplicates the other. (^_^) https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-6584https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-6585It's the best way to get attention on issues like this. I'm not saying it always gets read, but, I'm sure it gets read more than the forum. (=_=) Because of this glitch, I'm staying in the 1.19.1 viewer and I'll only try the 1.20.xx after each update until I start to see a version that matches or betters the stability I'm seeing in the current release. 1.20.1 got close, 1.20.2 seemed to kill most of the improvements I saw in 1. For now, 1.20.xx is just fine as a candidate, but nowhere near ready to go final. (^_^)y
