A lot of the new features Residents have been hoping to see with Voice are available for review and testing on the beta grid. You will need the newest Voice Beta Viewer because it is separate again from the ADITI Beta Viewer.

Some of the newest additions include Voice Enabled is not the default so you will need to go in Preferences to activate it. Mute voice and mute text are separate. The chat history, IM’s, Friends and Groups windows are now combined. Not sure how I feel about that one and it will take a little getting use to. The Speakers window now seems to be working so you can actually control the volume and mute each individual av within your vicinity. If you click on land and look in the About Land window you will see that there is an Enable Voice checkbox that seems to be off by default. I’m sure I missing something because these updates were just pushed out yesterday.
Honest criticism encouraged by those who actually GO AND TEST THESE FEATURES.

Yeah, but the arguments of those people will carry a lot more weight if they test it and report on how bad it is, rather than backing up the arguments with nothing more than prejudice.

Are you saying that if I am talking to someone in Chat and have two different IM conversations going, it all appears in one window? That makes no sense at all! I can see lumping some other aspects of those together, but how in the world could we deal with multiple IM's if they get lumped together? _____________________

Some of us have no wish for our real voices to be known. Some of us do not have 100% hearing and find even live conversation face to face difficult. .. and yes, I know it's an option. I simply shan't take it ... on the other hand, I might try it just to see how bad it truly is |

But I don't know how the IM's work as I haven't used them with the new window yet. |

I did peek into the Beta and found it highly annoying, not really worth buying extra hardware for to start. I however am not worried about being ostracized or marginalized. Most of my friends will not be using it on a regular basis, and anyone who doesn't respect my reasons for not using it is not worth my time. _____________________

I have a few questions for those who have it working. Does voice work with IMs as well? Can you talk to one specific person and not have anyone else hear it? What is the radius of what you can hear and where on the main grid are you seeing that voice is enabled?

My impression...OMG  Voice makes me sad. Will I be an outcast if I pretend it hasn't happened? At least now I can say I tried it. It is so much worse that i imagined._____________________
