i wonder if zante is talking about new land sims full of first land owners.
that sort of sim IS a nightmare.
all those 512 plots with eyesores all around. but give it time. eventually people sell, some just get tired and their plots go "to seed" and other plots get larger and less cluttered.
that's when the sim becomes less of a nightmare.
so give it time.

Why not just create instanced zones for individual players?
/rant
hehe okay in this game an "instanced zone for individual players" = your own sim cost 1295 setup (or something like that i haven't glanced at the pages lately) monthly tier 295 or 265 or something like that every "instance" would have to be payed for by a player Linden labs actualy has not much hold on land in this game people pay for server space and use it on a side note I live on a really nice "unzoned" private sim we all hold a minimum of 4096 land and all mostly fit our builds in with each others so it still looks pretty cool one land holder has about 1/3 of the sim and has a volcano and whatnot she lives right beside me i have a small store and tuch shop type hangout place for tourists really behind me is a scuba diving place with a couple of rental home and beside me is cottages that someone rents out that's the entire sim not all places are crazy unorganized only the places where new players are settling because they are trying to learn about the game and the sims have started out cut up into zones of 512 etc so basically your asking the wrong people you need to ask the community which includes you but you will find areas for combat play and role play and malls etc "themed" stuff which can be pretty nice the hodpodges are usualyl peopel trying to carve out their space over time by the way some people stay put where they are on the mainland and start buying land up as it becomes available until their parcel grows second life is kinda like the "untammed wild west" where there are no laws or rules peopel run and stake claims and there is no city planning etc. If you want that you basically have to get your own piece of the grid and create it that is second life in a nutshell. Although I still tend to think that some zoning should be introduced into the game over time in phases but instances are not going to happen for one thing they dont have the thing set up so that servers automaticaly kick in once somenoe enters for another you would have to pay for it

Yeah, it's disgusting : ) yeah, it was for me. i bought first land in late october. it was pretty ugly for a month or so. very ugly in fact. then people started selling and i started buying. so did a few others. so now we have an area with larger plots. some of the plots were bought just for "primmage" and so remain "vacant". in fact, one of my nice neighbors is a poster to this thread... hello bilbo. all in all, it has become a fairly nice area. no real eyesores. tho there is a small casino-wanna-be on the sim. hopefully that will go nowhere.

/throws up those settle over time like 2-3 months some people stay put and will buy land around them to make their parcel grow then you start to see space. The rest leave to buy a larger chunk of land somewhere else etc etc. That does sort itself out. what your looking at is a 'wave of settlers" who have been given their alloted claim to stake eventualy sims are usually "owned" by only a small handful of people like 4-5 from what i see on average. They build their main part and will buy more land for prim allowance usualy over time they do turn out fairly nice.

From: Honee Ryder It is called freedom, quite scary to those raised under the socialist systems alive and well in all Western nations. But it is the natrual state of man, to be free. Don't bring big brother into SL. Anarchy only works if there are less then two people involved. The "natrual [sic] state of man"? Dead of old age by forty? Dying in childbirth? Malnutrition? There's a lovely concept called a "Social Contract", please sign here ... and here ... initial here ...

I find that setting my draw distance to 64 improves my SL experience immeasurably; that way, most of the random crap that fills the world is filtered neatly out of my vision and my frame rate improves to boot! Yay!

I try to hide from the ugly, in my ugly space. SL is almost near 4 million users, and isn't getting any better. It's almost impossible to see a familiar face anymore, so i try to stay in my own sims and only talk to those I've known for a while or people who seam friendly towards me.

Hi Egon! <wave> Hey, I was with Lightfoot Linden last night for a support matter at Cirrus' place. He was quite impressed with the way the area had grown up

hi bilbo. we have to stop meeting like this... hehe.
yeah, the area IS coming along nicely. i'm just a bit nervous about that little "casino" southeast of your house ...
... and about that dragon that has taken up residence in the pond in front of your house.
