Hey, I heard a few people say that the mainland tier prices were going to be matched to private islands. Is this true? I couldn't find it in the blog. If you have any information on the subject, could you post links here?

Thanks in advance! :D

Robin responed to this exact query a few days ago. The answer was, no not imminently.

The blog clearly states any new tier price rises will be notified in advance of the change, as LL recognised the error in the way they introduced the new PI rates and tier prices.

I think many people forget that they pay the premium price for islands because they get greater tools and control over their land.

Those who stay on the mainland do simply because it's what they can afford - but have the risk of idiots with laggy casinos full of camping chairs popping up next door on a 512 plot and using 90% of the sim resources 24/7.

I don't think that increasing island prices was a good idea, because landowners already pay far too much as it is, especially when compared to other online games monthly fees. Those who own land are subsidising the gameplay of those who just want to run round enjoying other people's creations - and failing to give the landowner even a few L$ as a 'thankyou' for providing it for them.

Unless it is Linden owned land (roads, infohubs etc) then someone, somewhere is paying for what it is 'you' are enjoying.

There will never be an 'equal playing field' in Second Life, because all too often those who have more land get more recognition than those who own smaller amounts of land ... yet generally provide a more enjoyable experience.

Anyone can buy an island, fill it with other people's products, and run a casino, mall or *ingo place. It takes very little skill to become popular, all you have to do is install camping chairs and provide a reasonable payout from them and people will flock. Why should afk zombies care if you got a professional builder or landscaper in to build what you have, when their monitor is turned off and they're sleeping?

Well since dwelling and how population is going to be measure is going to change in the near future. So with land prices and how its used to based on its value.
