It's important to try to find the good in things, at least so a bunch of annoyingly cheerful, smiley people have told me from time to time, so here goes:
At least now when people ask me why I'm so depressed all the time I'll have some kind of answer.

Those in the group who are tired of the name "The Forum Cartel" will enjoy transitioning to "The Jive SBS Cartel".
Hey, they will, I'm sure they will.

Silver lining?
I'll get back several hours of productive time per day, when I all but cease offering helpful advice and information on SL's forums. At an average of over 145 posts a month, for 53 months, that adds up to a lot of hours, just spent typing them, let alone reading anyone else's posts.
I'm sure my RL mate will appreciate how much less time I spend on the computer now.

At least now when people ask me why I'm so depressed all the time I'll have some kind of answer. I finally have a good reason to kill the annoyingly cheerful, smiley people... not only should it relieve some of my anger, be good for the environment, and be excellent exercise, but I can blame it all on LL for making me snap, spend a few month rent free in quite room with no people (and a straight jacket)... plus I can write a book about it. my preferred smiley people to go first will be linden staff driving this ill planned demolition of my community and calling it an "improvement"

Ah, silver llinings. One good thing about Blue putting "under advisement" WEB-1074 ("Blog comments need 'Ignore this user' feature" is that we can't avoid seeing every inflammatory post by one particularly vile techno-cretin. This is a good thing because it makes the Linden posts seem so much more sensible by comparison. ( /me whistles a happy tune, sharpening his bear-skinning knife "Oh, for no particular reason." )

The post count race is on again. Only a few people with a serious head start. Shouldn't take long for these forum pros in here to pass me up since I am not risking my secondlife over participation in a forum.

It's been rather wearing making do with gelded software here for years, waiting for the axe to fall. At least there will be no more years of dread. It's been a bit depressing.

Hey, they will, I'm sure they will. The Jive-Ass Cartel would be better. But anyway... It may just be that hosting a forum is not something that LL should be doing. It may be something they should stay away from, and that a really effective SL-related forum should be independent. I am always a little afraid of speaking my mind in the blogarithm, frankly. What LL could offer in an official forum would be Linden involvement. I don't think they have any other value to add. But I think we get enough of that - I mean I think we get what we *can* - from their blog posts when they reply to comments. Will SLA offer more than that? If it doesn't, why go there instead of an alternative forum? We are the ones who made *this* forum work, so wherever we go we take what we have to contribute with us.

It's EXACTLY something they should be doing! It's a communication format that works better than pimping us out to twitter or facebook or AU. They want all that communication and access and daily cruft.....but took it out of their own venue? They could very easily participate. All they have to do is answer 50% of the questions....throw in a few jokes.....add a few ferret pics.....and be consistent.....just hang tight for a few weeks, and keep plugging away, until they find their "groove." People would get used to them, and it would become routine. It would fall into place. Look at your friends list. How many came from here? They are pulling a tool that keeps people active inworld. Of course, this has all been said a zillion times.
