From: Katnipsox Magic Ive noticed with the avpainter that it distorts the color of the texture file. So you create like a pattern with the cut you want in it then take it to AvPainter and do your corrections then go back to photoshop and add the texture you want to see? I haven't had this problem at all so I'm sorry don't know how to help you here. I use AvPainter to perfect my outline (pattern) making sure all edges match up etc., then I create the piece on PSP with many many layers (sometimes those files are so messy!), when it is all done including the wrinkles/folds layer then I upload it all to AvPainter, and touch up where needed to make those wrinkles/folds and other things all match up across the seams. For example, the bodice in my sig, a few places where the embroidery stopped at the seam I drew the next little part of it onto the back or front just to complete that little part so it didn't look like a dead end. Then I save from AvPainter as tga files and upload the 512 tga file to SL. Edit: if you look at the bottom of the embroidery on the bodice in my sig, you will see where I missed one, a tip of a leaf or something is on the front but it kind of dead ends and nothing on the back matches up to it.

I just started yesterday, using GIMP and a tutorial at phoenixkatun.wordpress.com. I was getting dressed for work in RL, and put on a skirted suit with a plain camisole under the jacket. Part would show under the neck and a little bit close to my waist. I had been trying to find a camisole like that for my avatar (my av is me-looks and dress) but had not found a camisole that could be worn under a suit jacket.
So decided to make one. Last night made the T-Shirt using the tutorial. My first attempt looked awful. Then I tried a camisole to wear with a suit. It came out OK, but only as long as you have a jacket on to cover most of it (particularly the straps).
While it took less than an hour, and all of my patience, to make the camisole I think that it would take most of a day to make a good looking and more complex piece of clothing. I have a lot of respect for those who do it. They must have far more patience than I!
One thing that I have trouble finding on SL is professional women's clothing. There are plenty of suits, but tops that leave the waist exposed is not professional clothing. Sure, on the beach or at the pool my belly button is exposed to the world, but not in the office. I would also like skirts that end at or just below the knee, more like I wear and see in RL.
If I can't find what I want I may have to learn to make them.

Check out First Impressions, Blaze (Last time I was there they seemed to have some women's professional attire). I also put in "women's business suits" in the all search under places and it pulled up some other stores. I've seen a number of stores that are making women's professional attire, but I don't take the lm's (going to start doing that!) and haven't been in "purchasing mode" when I've seen them.

Mary, If you make a camisole that looks good under a suit jacket and can be worn without the jacket, and covers the waist, please let me know. I will buy a copy. I also have problems finding professional work clothes. I usually wear suits for work, and frequently wear a cami under the jacket. Sometimes (during summer) in the office I leave the jacket off and but wear a nice looking cami. BTW: I love your name! mbj

I thought a camisole was some kind of lady's underwear. Is it something that is worn where it can be seen in SL?
I know that as a single male I am ignorant about women's clothing.

I know that as a single male I am ignorant about women's clothing. A camisole can be either underwear or worn to be seen. Actually, there are two types of camisoles in RL and SL. There are those that are underwear, like the top half of a slip. In RL they are worn between the bra and a blouse. But there are also camisoles that are worn under suit jackets or low cut v-neck sweaters and are visible. They are also worn without a jacket or sweater but like a blouse. If you see women in RL wearing a suit jacket and under the jacket you see a horizontal top (as opposed to a blouse with a collar in the same shape as the jacket), it may be a camisole. This type of camisole is what is not common in SL stores; the underwear type is very common in SL stores and in RL stores. See http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=335346&CategoryID=39098 for a typical camisole used with a suit. Notice that it also looks good without the jacket. See http://www1.macys.com/search/index.ognc?SearchTarget=*&Keyword=camisole&KEYWORD_GO_BUTTON.x=10&KEYWORD_GO_BUTTON.y=15 for the underwear type camisoles. As the holiday gift giving season approaches, you men need lessons in womens clothing!

Marybeth, Yes, you do have very good taste in names I recently bought the Jones New York pants suit with the camisole in your link, but at a different store (in RL). When and if I make a camisole that is good enough to really wear I will let you know. Thalic, The camisoles worn with suits or without anything over them are usually simply known as "tops". However, when searching on store websites (RL and SL) I search both on tops and camisoles, since they can be listed either way. If Marybeth J's post didn't answer your questions, let me know before the next time you visit in RL and I will be sure to wear a camisole with my suit. Czari, Thanks, I will check out First Impressions and Blaze. Mary
