Hi All
Being a relative noob I still struggle to find places to go and have a chat with others!
I have a few clubs and shops that I pop into and find others to chat with, but I wondered if there were any particular 'hot spots' that anyone could recommend?
TIA

Go to Search, open the places folder, type in a keyword that interests you and start exploring. Do the same under the Groups tab and join some groups. Also Visit NCI (New Citizens Incorporated. There you can meet people get a lot of freebies and take classes to learn building and scripting.

TIA BB x Interesting question...I am relatively new, well, new-ish, and I found the most interesting people in the least expected places. I met my beloved partner while shopping and it was quite unplanned and spontaneous, met other friends just in bizarre places while not "intending" to meet anyone... just happened. One friend outside his art gallery, a fun friend skydiving, many more at the poker tables. Take some time to explore, be yourself, as with anything...don't force it, it will happen naturally. I have found that I have yet to meet anybody, who I have retained as a meaningful friend, in any "hot spot". But if that is your venue of choice... Me...I would search for places that YOU find interesting, that way, those you meet there you will at least have some commonality...some shared interests. If you like jazz, search for jazz clubs, if you like to skydive, go skydiving... I found most "hot spots", as in RL, merely meat markets. Hope this helps... Meggy

Meggy It is amazing how SL parallels RL in many ways.

From: Colette Meiji I just meet people off the forums. Be careful. You meet all sorts of unsavory people there.

Avoid places where people camp they often are bunch of Zombies. While there are socialable places often it zombie town. Lot of places though even NCI sometimes are full of very anti-social types not always but seems often. Though I have met people through others here in forums and even in place I use to camp and play scramble.

People are everywhere. . .

If you happen to be somewhere, say a shop, and someone else happens to be in the same place--automatically, you have something in common, and a reason to start a conversation.
I read profiles. If I find something interesting, I make a comment. If there's nothing noteworthy, it's probably an indication of an uninteresting person.
People like to hear that you like some unique aspect of their appearance. Or you can joke about, (or praise) the DJ. Or compare the scenery to ANOTHER place you know--Would they like to see?
Meeting people in SL is EASY. And if one doesn't work out. . .there's always another to talk to.
FWIW, I met my partner in a club, sent her a picture of herself in her "Missing Images" skin, and explained how to rebake textures. . .
Gotta love SL bugs.

I have found just exploring I have made friends. I met my Mistress just by checking out her profile and seeing her classified for help shopping. I also meet a lot of people just by hanging with friends that I have already made. They will usually introduce me to their friends.
