I will try to keep this as civil as I can, but I have to say the customer service I have experienced from Linden Labs is the worst in recent memory that I have recieved from any company I've dealt with.
Here is the situation: I logged into second life yesterday to find a sign posted in front of my store saying "dont buy here, player has left game, takes money, and gives no product". Well I promptly filed an abuse report on the individual.
Then I started trying to answer the host of IMs I had waiting. Seems ppl trying to buy my products were getting the "transaction timed out message", and would try to purchase again multiple times, still getting the message each time. Then lo and behold, on reloging into the game, they find that each transaction did in fact go through. So as you can guess, my finances are a total mess, ppl are out alot of money for now, and its going to take me days to get this straight with everyone.
As of now, and for at least the last 48 hours, no one homed in Funadama can IM anyone within the game, the friends list is non functioning, we cannont walk, or tp out of the sim without being disconnected from the game. The transaction timed out bug is still happening. All business within the sim is totally shut down (at least mine is trying to minimize the damage). This seems to be isolated only to the sim Funadama, but then, without any information from the "world", that is hard to tell.
This has been going on for over 48 hours now that I know of. Ive filed bug reports, Ive e-mailed LL, Ive called on the phone. Hell, this morning I even filed an abuse report on the lindens for this just to try to get something other than an automated response out of anyone.
There is nothing on the blog at all regarding this. LINDEN LABS!! IS THERE ANYONE HOME?!! ARE YOU EVEN AWARE THERE IS AN ISSUE IN FUNADAMA?!!! CAN SOMEONE THERE ACTUALLY TAKE THE TIME TO INTERFACE WITH AN IRRATE CUSTOMER AND LET HIM KNOW THAT YOU ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE?!!
And last but not least, how about just shutting Funadama down until you get it fixed, so at least maybe we could go to help island, and tell all the newbies what great experience Second Life is.

I'm sorry to hear that happened to you. Have you looked at your transaction history to try and sort some of this out?

1. Yes, but not being able to communicate, pay, or talk to anyone not in Funadama, standing right next to me kind of negates being able to do anything. 2. The state of mind Im in right now, I dont want to see the mess Im gonna have to clean up after this.

Removal of "Live Help" was just cruel. Now people have to go to help island if they are being griefied? Only to find Help Island is a place newbies are being coached on how to dress.
Just watch what would happen when voice comes into play. You can't instantly or even within a reasonable time frame get LL to assist you with anything. And then there would be the kid sitting on the parcel next to yours saying all sorts of insane stuff to your customers.
Nothing can be done about abuse! Just hire the local SL resis police.

Even if live help were still available, I couldnt talk to them as IM is down in Funadama.
Well, the sad fact is, right now, I cant even go to help island. Cant get out of Funadama without getting disconnected from the game as I leave the boundries of the sim. Wouldnt be so bad if I could as least communicate with the rest of SL in some way.

Did you try clearing your cache and logging back in?
Just kidding. Try to e-mail a Linden, pick one randomly or pick someone who is kinda visual. This has helped me in the past but now that SL is 6 mil strong I have no idea how efficent that would be.

There wouldn't be anything on the blog, because the problems you're describing usually come up when a sim gets partially disconnected from the grid. Did you try the region down report? https://secondlife.com/account/region_down.phpIt's not exactly applicable in your case, but you can describe the problems you're having and they should figure out that it just needs a restart most likely. inworldsupport@secondlife.com is the new contact e-mail for in-world related problems as well. (As for leaving the sim: Edit / Preferences, General, check Show Start Location... close SL, reopen, under your name you'll be able to type in the name of a sim to connect to directly.. that'll get you out )

Hi Mannie -- A thought I had after talking with you last night (night my time) is I wondered if there might be some problem with the Sim itself. Have you tried to write to: inworldsupport@secondlife.com And ask them to check out the and restart it if necessary? Just a thought. Also check this page for office hours. It has SLURLS to where they are and what time in in SL: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Office_Hours* * * Hope this gets solved soon for you!! Let us know how it goes... - Infrared (yr friendly neighborhood hippy)

Thanks all, I have used every means of communication available to me from Linden Labs. The whole issue is not that the sim is porked. The issue is absoultly no accknowledgement to me via e-mail, phone, in game IM, or here on this bbs that the linden's are even aware that anything is going on. Aside from all the automated responses that the bug reports generate, nothing. And more than 48 hours is a bit much for a single sim to be down with no fix As an aside, a screenie of what Ive done to my beautiful marina that Ive worked so hard on to try and reach out for help.

If that option does not appear go to Preferences > General and check the box "Show Start Location on Login Screen" Hope this helps.

Thanks Val, unfortunatly nothing in world will help unless they actually come to Funadama. In world IMs, and searches arnt working in Funadama.
Ive actually helped a few newbies this morning that came to funadama and couldnt get back out. Told them they had to log off, and when logging back on, to set their preverences for home prior to connecting to the game to get out of Funadama.
Unfortunately, for those of us that have their home set as Funadama, we are stuck for the forseeable future.
Missed that last one of yours, was posting as you were, will try that.

Just an offside note: If you think the SL support is bad, then try Oracle or SAP.....

Just to let you know that Chaska and Ohno regions are also intermittant. I emailed Linden but so far no reply - so your problem is not so isolated.

I was able to TP in and out, and fly out of two sides that I tested. Didn't try IMs while I was there. Is the problem still there?

LOL.. I was going to suggest you leave a sign up for anyone coming to the SIM, but I see you have that covered

And heres the kicker, the sim is back online, seems it just needed a restart. Now after more than two days of attempted communications with LL, using every means available that they provide, I could get no help from the staff.
Yet Val, gives me a hint on how to escape from my sim, and I contact guy linden in world, he restarts the sim, wella! everything back to normal.
Anyone else see anything wrong with how this worked out?

From: Alicia Sautereau edit 1: think they restarted the sim, was thrown off lol edit 2: the region is offline, nothing but sea so they`re prolly looking into it to fix ur problem? It's a common practice for LL to take a sim down and investigate if the sim has reached a crash quota or if there are enough complaints.

This story is another of many sad and frustrating ones we are hearing about every day. The only silver lining is that in general, things tend to get resolved, just not in the time-frame that we want them to.
So I guess the key word here is patience. We have to have a lot of it these days.
Or, in my case, close all business dealings in SL. I have decided to go back to earning a living in RL where I have more control. SL is way too messed up to risk my livelihood on. I'm going back to a way of making a living that is not dependant on Guy Linden making an appearance should things go wrong.

I'm honestly starting to wonder what's going on...LL says they're getting rid of traffic, but haven't seen a change. Sales for every merchant that _I_ know (that's just my own experience!) have plummeted over the last week and everyone's wondering, "if there are 40,000 people logged on, WHERE IS EVERYONE??) Seems I rarely see people wandering around any more... it's all campers and zombies. Every couple of days I may see a scared newbie trying to get out of a corner, but other than that, it's like a ghost town.
