Just got a walk animation from Abranimations. How do I set it up so it activates whenever I walk?

It needs to go into an animation overrider, which are often included as freebies various places. When you're new, though, it's usually easier to buy a preloaded 'AO' than try to edit new animations into one. These include new stands, sits, etc, as well as a walk. Abranimations sells full AOs, I think through the sign behind the pose stands where you try out the individual ones. Reverie and Lost Dog's DNA are also very popular.

There was a thread the other day in the Animations forum with a guide to using the ZHAO, a freebie animation overrider. The PDF guide they link to also has info on the last page about where to pick up a ZHAO.

why not do some searching in the forums before posting questions about things that are already answered over and over, all you are doing is bumping other posts down

Yekaterina's posts are rising to the top because other posters are interested in discussing these issues. _____________________

I disagree. Yekaterina's posts are rising to the top because other posters are interested in discussing these issues. Yes Ava, some people seem to forget that this forum (resident answeres) is for experienced residents to assist the newer among us, among other things. There is often an undercurrent of elitism in the replies to many of the threads here. I enjoy your posts, as it is obvious you really care about helping others. _____________________

I also much appreciate the kind helpful answers from people like Ava Glasgow.
Sometimes I've had an question I wanted a "Resident Answers" to (that IS the name of the forum, right?), but I was afraid it was too noobie and that someone would flame me for it. I consider myself well above average at digging information out of Google/FAQs/Knowledge Bases/etc, but sometimes it gets tricky knowing just the right keywords to search (especially on a subject you don't understand well), and frustrating to spend 40 minutes going in circles with outdated information that was (maybe) changed three patches ago, when someone else could answer it in 30 seconds. EQ2 used to have a special section of the forum designated as "The Newbie Yard". It was really nice because you felt you could ask anything there without having some grump snort "Sheesh go use SEARCH." A "newbie yard" section in the forums here might be nice. |

/me blushes!
![]() I admit there are times when I get fed up, and even give a terse answer, but Yekaterina's questions are good ones that have started up some interesting discussions. I've also noticed that the search feature here doesn't work as well as it might. Sometimes I want to link to a thread I remember, and it will take me 5-10 minutes to find it even though I already know exactly what I'm looking for. You can actually help narrow the focus using Advanced Search, but then I am more likely to use that effectively because I'm a professional database searcher (aka librarian). Now back to the issue at hand! Yekat, did you figure out how to get your walk working? ![]() _____________________

No, Ava, unfortunately I haven't yet had time to mess with it yet, but I do appreciate the advice! I checked out the PDF.

ZHAOs are freebies and can be found all over, but the creator specifically mentions Material Squirrel in his profile. I think one of my alts may have gotten hers from Reel Movement, but I'm not positive.

I've got a walk animation that I just 'wear'. If I look for it, it's a tiny orange ball usually embedded in the middle of my thigh.

Actually, I see now that the very last item in the PDF tells you where to get it. So I went to SecondFrame and got one! Now something funny is happening. The Abranimation isn't letting me move it to the ZHAO contents. Wonder why.

Is it an animation (little guy) or an object (cube)? If it's an object, it may be an attachment like Oryx mentioned. In which case, the animation would have to be removed from the attachment before it could be put into the ZHAO.

Hmmm, odd; my first animations were all from Abranimations and I never had any trouble moving them in, out, all around...
It's not active, is it? _____________________

Active? I'm not walking using the animation, if that's what it means.

It goes bold when active, like anything you'd wear, and isn't movable in that state. You dropped the ZHAO on the ground, did a right-click>Edit>More>Contents, then dragged the animation from inventory to Contents? Or tried to, anyway? I mystified why that wouldn't work.

Yeah, exactly. I just get the "no can do" icon when I try it.

The only thing I can think of that would cause that is if the ZHAO were no modify, but that would make no sense. Maybe Ava knows? lol

I'm a total noob, and got the ZHAO overrider. I use animations from a popular place called Vista Animations, Laila (38, 236, 82). They worked no problem.

Can't see why a ZHAO would be no mod, unless you bought a full one. Even then, you can usually mod them.
Try getting another ZHAO, lostdog do a reworked one that's free for the empty version. Handy hint when you rezz the ZHAO, right click and edit something first, so the edit box is open. It'll atuomatically switch to the ZHAO when you rezz it, that damned thing can be a bugger to see to click on. |

You're sure you are rezzin the right thing? |
