although I can see the want in getting money instantly rather than waiting a day for the transaction to go through, all he would have to do is remove the alloted land amount from his part in the group tier, add it to his personal tier and then buy the land himself from the group. Then you would be buying the land privately from him rather than him waiting a day for the money to show up.

If he is that stressed about the "day wait"..then this is the way it should be done. There should be NO risk on your part when buying land.

Alice

Alice, i have to say that the land wasnt even set to sale YET, i have asked to buy way before it would go on the market, and before he was splitting them in to 1024 which woluld have taken him from 2-5 days to sell what i wanted to buy from him. i wanted 1/4 sim right there and then.

If it is the actual owner - I wonder if this is a new way to make money with declining land prices

"Hand me you money Ill give you the land"
*you hand him the money*
"Let me know when your gonna pay"
*"but i did"*
"sorry im not gonna let you play games with me" (runs off with the money)

Or alternatively a destroy the evidence plan:

"Hand me you money Ill give you the land"
*you hand him the money*
"Okay let me set this up to give to you" (actually sets it low enough for landbots to devour it but still make a tidy sum - considering hes been paid once already)
"OMG you got Swooped"
*"what do you mean I got swooped?"*
"You werent fast enough - the landbot got it - sorry I wish there was something I could do"

Well illustrated, Colette! Two scams in all their nastiness.

I haven't been devious enough to figure out the second one before I read it here ... with the price set low but not zero, this is a trick to make even a bit more money. And that from a landbot!

When i said thats this might be a scam and i wont buy it, he rushed off and saying that I have insulted him ? and then as if the relationship went to hell from there, just because i am cautious ?

Relationship? Well, he does seem to act like a fourteen year old posing as a thirty-something getting upset when a potential webcam hottie tells him "I don't send out nude pics to guys I don't know." All that indignation, the "don't you trust me", that doesn't indicate a fair businessman getting insulted, it indicates a scammer getting caught.

Remember, even if this were a usual way to sell land, any sane businessman would understand about your reservations and try to give you some sort of guarantees instead of storming off insulted like a five year old with a temper tantrum.

Don't buy that land. I have a better deal for ya. It's called the Brooklyn Bridge and it's located in New York City. Lots of income potential with this hot property---folks going to and from work every day, tourists, and suicide jumpers. The best way to transfer the bridge to you by you paying me first. Then, I can pay the city govrnment a special tax which is required, and I get a low rate, way lower than you could ever get. It's kind of complicated but don't worry, I do it all the time. And then after that small detail is taken care of I'll send you a deed to the bridge, and it's yours. I'll use Federal Express and send you the package tracking number by email.

Oh, yes, and the price for the Brooklyn Bridge is a low 75,000L. I always deal in Lindens rather than US Dollars. So much easier, right? IM me soon, this deal won't last.

I keep looking for information on how to join the SLBB but can't as of yet find anything. The website has no application process and one of the ads brought me to an empty lot. Is this thing just on an invitation only basis or something? or is "the little guy" with good ethics allowed to join somehow?

You'll want to contact inworld OliveEue Sholo**** (figure out the rest of the name as its against TOS to post a full name) for application to be a member, once a member you can request mediation on matters, but anyone membership or not can report bad business in SL

It just reeks of a scam. You did a very good thing by backing away.

have seen this way of landsale a few times, mostly on private regions AND av's without prem account... but it would be renting in this case.

When i want to sell a piece of my region it's just as mainland... no work..and everybody gets his share automaticly.
Of course it's a bit easier for a sim-owner, because in case of fraud/unwanted buyers we can reclaim.

Or you can go to Ethics City, Business Bureau Isle (128, 128, 35) and find a very tall building ;)
