how do I over ride default avatar animations

To those of you who know how to do this I apologise in advance if I sound stupid.
I'm having a go at making my own poses and animations - fun! I am using qavimator and avimator at the moment but "poser" looks promising too. My problem is this: One I upload my pose or animation in world I cant figure out how to stop my avatar from typing while my pose or animation is running ... obviously all runs smoothly if I chat in IM but in open chat my av goes and destroys my pose appearance and I loathe that!
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated :-)

I would love to know how to change the typing during chat animation too...and that weird eye movement thing that happens at the same time..

But I would think that with all the great animators we have, if it could be done, it would have been by now.

But hoping anyway.

Make sure to actually animate (ie. set a rotation on) every part of the body and upload at a higher priority. A high priority animation will override the typing movements.

Or type /0 (I think) at the start of every line of chat. Sending your chat to a specific channel prevents the typing movements.

I have an overrider for the typing movements, but that changes it to another movement, not stops it.

Dang -- I *know* I read the answer to this question on the forum not that long ago, but can't remember the details. But I think it was simply a chat command.

It can't be a chat command. Think of all the excellent poses and animations out there Craig Altman makes some awesome ones! You sit on the poseball and your avatar gets "frozen" into the pose or animation and you dont TYPE ....
I'm SURE it is either in the animation process or the upload process - I uploaded at priority 4 which is recommended to over ride default animations but my av still types :-(
Someone knows how this is done - please share?

Tut, tut. O ye of little faith.

In point of fact, it CAN be a chat command. I did a search of the forums and found the thread with instructions.

Saucey Barbecue:
When you type your chat-text, type /0 (slash-zero) first and your AV won't type.

What is up today, nobody seems to be reading my posts. Has everyone muted me or something?

LOL! Sorry, John. I think my mind saw "set rotation" and just skipped over the post as being too technical for me. I missed the easy part about the chat command.

Now, if I can just find my grovel anim to ask your forgiveness....

Also, you can have your AO do it for you. If you have some scriptfiend friends, ask them to take a look at the Franimation AO script and add typing to the list of poses that it overrides.
It can be done. A friend did it for me. I'd offer the reworked script he did, but it's got so much other stuff in it that you probably don't need (and I don't know how to turn off! *grin*) that it'd probably be useless.

Also, as was said above, don't forget to "Lock" all your body parts (moving them just a wee smidgen) in Frame2 and upload at priority 3 or 4.

Does anyone have a link to Ulrika's tutorial? I can't find it.

Hum...how does one turn off the silly typing noise? I spend some time as a mermaid, and I made a little typing device that creates bubbles and makes a bubbling noise when I chat. I've got the bit about the AO now, but I still get a "clackity clackity" noise.

Re: Typing sounds.

From what I can gather from my scriptslave.. er... friend, the initial bit of typing sound is ungetridofable (my new word I just invented), but after the first little bit, you can have another sound file play.
I don't profess to know how it's done, but I know it can be done.

General advice:

Hang out in sandboxes. Get friendly with people there. Over a very short time, you'll probably meet someone who knows about scripting and can hook you up.

This might get me in trouble with some, but I've found that Furry sandboxes have an inordinately high number of people that can script, build, animate etc. etc., simply because of the fact that we need weird stuff to happen with our AVs and characters.
Come hang with us. We don't bite. Much. *grin*
Not saying that Non-Furry places don't, just relating my experiences and observations.

Thanks--I'll have to fiddle some more.

I agree on the furry thing--I think it must be because so much of their appearance is dependent on building and scripting, whereas the rest of us just fiddle with sliders.

Not afraid of furries--my business partner in Tanglewood (the newest Caledon sim) is an Ermine (aka "posh weasle";). He's soooo cute with his little top hat and magnifying glasses.

thank you John! I too got sidetracked by the technical look of what you wrote - it fixed my problem, genius!!
