From: Daisy Rimbaud But on other occasions I often feel there's a problem with who offers first. The more junior person is reluctant to offer friendship to the more senior one, and hopes the senior one will go first ... In my case I got friendship offers from ppl who were on their first day in SL and asked me a question on how things worked and after I answered they immediately offered friendship. I politely refuse in most cases and explain the friendship offering function to them. Works out great for both parties!

I'm quick to offer friend to a newbie I'm helping out. When they're good and on their own, if the friendship doesn't last I can always delete them. Being a guy I probably get pestered less than most women would.
I offer friend to people who are interested in doing business (I write scripts). This makes it easy for us to communicate about issues. And again, once business is concluded if there's no continued conversation they can be deleted. However, once I offered friend to a client and got a *blush* in reply -- so maybe it's not universal, or perhaps she was just having fun with me.
About the notes tab -- I want those in RL! If only I could right-click on people who say Hi to me and I can't remember who the heck they are! I find it really helps to keep good notes, including some details of appearance, because it can change so dramatically. Not just for newbies, but also a number of women who seem to have a totally different look for every day of the week. (Keeps us visually-oriented folks off balance, which is fun.)
Sometimes if I meet someone and would like to get together again but don't want to seem like I'm pressuring, I say "Hey, nice meeting you, friend me if you'd like to get together again some time." Hopefully that gives them the chance to say "Oh, I'll see you if you hang out here" or something polite but noncommittal like that if they aren't particularly.
Does that seem like a good idea or bad one? I'm interested in your opinions.

Blibo, with all that goes on, sometimes it's hard to stay in touch with your best friends let alone the other ones!

From: Metalcorn Cassini I'd offer friendship to you in a heartbeat...Cleary you have a tremendous sense of humor! Accepted! I'm very susceptible to flattery.

From: Ceera Murakami 2: Offer a calling card. This turned out to be an excellent approach, so thank you very much! Just last night I had another encounter with a neighbor that I had really liked right off the bat. So this time around I right-clicked through the menu like a pro and offered him a calling card; he countered by offering me friendship, which I accepted happily, and now all is right with the world.

First-time poster, here, long-time lurker... I think that's an outstanding idea, Learjeff, and I wish more would adopt it as their own policy regarding friendship offers! Cheers--!

From: Learjeff Innis "Hey, nice meeting you, friend me if you'd like to get together again some time." "Friend me" -- the SL equivalent of "Let's do lunch." I love it!

Hey guys speaking of calling cards and being new all. How do you make one? How do you find it to give or find the other person once you made it to give or looking for other person? My inventory is mess. Search in my Inventory can be moody. LOL

From: FD Spark How do you find it to give or find the other person once you made it to give or looking for other person? Right click on the victim. Click on "more." Click "give card."
