I was just wondering if there was a linden with enough balls to actually comment on the recurring subjects in this forum? Why do Lindens Purposely stay silent and not comment and give us their views on subjects like "Land Bots" Does linden Labs really care weather people are losing $$ from small but stupid mistakes? How about the fact that no matter where you buy Land, (unless you buy from a private island) It is inevitable you will be living next to an eye jolting ugly Ad farm, Does anyone at Linden Labs care that no Body wants to look at these and are forced to build in the sky with no hopes of a nice view if the surrounding property, Only sky and clouds! Not to mention it makes a piece of property that may have been worth 6000L is now worth 4000L! DO ANY OF YOU LINDENS CARE???????????????????????????????????????????????????????? A Linden recently posted a beautiful picture in her Blog, What a nice view! Does a view like this exist anywhere us mere mortals can purchase land and be assured it wont grow AD Farms, or be afraid of the peering eyes of the Land Bots waiting for you to make a mistake and pounce on your land and yes, Probably cut it up for an Ad Farm! Is there a Linden with enough courage to comment on these issues or are we doomed to keep reading peoples vents here in the forum because Lindens are to afraid to take an official stand! For those of you that are going to point out what "TOS" says, I still would like a Linden to step up and speak about these subjects! Then we can be clear minded when we decide weather Second Life is somewhere we wish to invest our time and Money!!!! Is there a LINDEN in Da HOUSE ?????????

For me, knowing LL's stance on these issues isn't nearly as important as knowing which of them can be avoided because i dont expect they'll dip their hands into them. I've often thought how nice it would be if LL offered small Islands/sims, maybe one-eighth or one-sixteenth of a typical region size, clustered together in a grid space, but with protected land or water between them. Sold as estates, and each with their own set of region controls... I would shell out big time for something like that, and I know tons of others who would also. As it stands now, the ONLY way to completely avoid these issues is to go the estate route, and either rent from someone else or pay through the backside for way more land than the average Joe needs or can afford.

If you are a God, or the Gods (a la pagan Greece and Rome), there are BIG advantages to being remote, almost inaccessible, and inscrutable. Because when you do speak or act, it matters.
Trust me, if you were in their shoes, after four years of putting up with the nattering you see here, you would do the same.
Which is not the same as saying the gods should not listen to the mortals, and act when they should. Where would they be, without worshippers?...

Occasionally, we have a couple of hearty souled Lindens chime in on some things.. but never on the 'really important matters,' because they aren't stupid enough to be caught in the crossfire. The neutral stance on somethings is good, but the problem is that a lot of us do feel they need to clarify some issues and 'rulez' so we know where we're stepping. Especially for this platform, where money is most definitely involved, and the punishment is banning.
*shrugs* I think that otherwise, it's probably a good idea that they stay uninvolved, especially in what can be termed, 'personal problems.'

I think any Linden would have to be most foolhardy to get involved here - it's a long time since I've seen such a "flame-happy" bunch on an internet forum.

Actually, go down the SL forums, to the archives. It's pretty tame compared to the old "General Discussion," which probably isn't a good selling point for the forum, now is it?

From my experience, on the issue of Landbots, they "seemed" at one time to be concerned. Robin Linden made one post that there were efforts that were going to be made, but nothing was ever done. I contacted Jack Linden in-world and he told me they were "looking into it" and "aware of the issue" but again nothing was done. As far as the issue of ugly rotating ads ruining the mainland, we are on our own and this one I can understand them staying out of because the mainland is about freedom and building anything you want for the most part. There has been talk about getting rid of land smaller than 512 meters but this has its pros and cons. I do what I can by being a member of the arbor project and banning ad farmers from my land and also letting them know my displeasure with their ugly ads when I see them rezzing them. Also I never click on an ad or give business to anyone who resorts to that tactic.

Put them up to block out the ads, which are mainly attempts at extortion, hipoing to sell out to the neighbors. Block the ads off when you are their neighbor, and they are worthless to everyone, including the owner/extortionist. Then, treat him like he deserves to be treated - with six-foot dongs penetrating...well, I leave that to your imagination, which will not be lacking if you have been exposed to this problem.

I'd think that the few Lindens who do follow RA are likely to be Liasons and not the actual Lindens who make and set policy, so even if the Liasons did comment they'd be forced to stick to the company's official lines regardless of their own opinion.

[Sigh.] Yeah, it is a fundamental law of dealing with bureaucracy that you need to talk to the person who actually makes the decisiion that is relevant to you. If you can't, then you need to make enough commotion so that it rises through the channels to that person's attention. And if you can't do that, then you need to find some way to make that person have to bet his career on continuing to ignore your (legitimate) complaint. Depressing that the Laws of Buraucracy have come into effect so soon in SL. [Mourns for the fate of SL and LL.]

Lindens don't use the forums anymore, that's why they have moderators. They decided that the blog is more effective in communicating.
Edit; I think it comes down to two things. One, there's this rising trend of inaccessibility when it comes to actual Linden Labs employees. It's like there's this wall between them and us, where they used to be a lot closer. The other is the hostility. I don't think they like dealing with us, to be honest. And the longer they've gone without actually speaking to the players, the more hostile it seems to get. They've reached this point where trying to communicate with most players on the forums would be like a bloodbathe for them.
That said, they put themselves there in many, many ways.

He would clear up land issues like a true SL god.

If everyone who was logged in at 2PM (SL Time) yesterday paid 1 US Dollar we could afford to hire and pay a Linden $40K p/a to purely answer resident questions
I'd buy that for a Dollar (what movie is that from?)
Imagine if we, as a unified community, handed LL US$40K and told them to go hire someone with a bit of common sense to purely answer our questions via email and the forum, regardless of how anal or stupid or pointless the question is. How could LL refuse? it wouldnt cost them anything and they would be sending a very negative mesage if they refused such an offer as they would be turning down the oportunity to offer addtional support at no extra expense to their customers.
In fact I would pay 1 US dollar every sunday for the next year...and if everyone else did the same we could employ an entire army of question answerers who would be at our beck and call 24 hrs a day to answers even the most mundain of questions. They would be our question biatches and could even name them ourselves with mildy offensive and derogatory names to keep their morale low so they will fit in with the rest of the 'gang'. We would of course have to hire a security gaurd too in order to stop them sneaking off to the Linden Lab hidey black hole as I believe anyone with "Linden" as a surname is magnetically drawn to this place and once they enter they will never be heard of again.
Now all i need to do is find a Linden to present my idea too.....oh......ah....(porky scratches his head).....eeeer........we'll forget that idea then.
