In referrence to my post number 24 I think that's

"No matter where you GO, there you are."

Same conclusion applies.......a Mel Gibson flick is so profound in it's knowledge of the secrets of physics. :)

An electron travels east towards a positron moving west.

Do they touch?

If particles can never touch, what are they building all the particle colliders for? :p

It's part of the stimulus package.

If they touch does it mean they're gay?

Wouldn't gay be when two electrons or two positrons touch.

I'm thinking now of all the electricity word jokes: how shocking, revolting, assault and battery, get a charge out of it, offering resistance, etc. If there was a legislator named Ohm, she could write Ohm's Law, wouldn't that be neat?

Some believe in the holy grail of one single particle and one single force... the Grand Unified Theory.

You mean the Grand Unification Theory (mostly), and no, that's not what it is.

/waves to all on his way out - I've a pie with my name on it.

Watt a wonderful amperage you have there Ms Voltage. :)

Senator Inyourpocket earmarked that money for General Dynamics in the Stimulus Package for the mere price of going 100% IBEW...........got to get in on the new law the Supreme Court wrote two days ago. :)

Two pure copper (AE29) pennies without oxidation at rest in a vacuum that are "in contact" in the common sense will at first repel each other at the atomic level due to the electromagnetic force of their electron shells. Over time, they will begin to fuse as copper has only 1 electron in its 4th energy shell. It has a strong affinity to share electrons with copper atoms in close proximity. It will begin to crystallize into a Isometric - Hexoctahedral. At this point, the pennies can be said to be touching as they will be sharing electrons. From a quantum point of view, never attempt to observe this effect as due to the Heisenburg uncertainty principal, there is a finite improbably that you could be instantly transported to the far end of this or some other universe.

So now you have the equilant of 2 cents in one...........which makes that 2 penny piece twice as worthless. :)

I'm interested in how many vacuum inclusions that would generate, and if they are avoided completely by physical compression... it'd be neat to know if there are breakage concerns above the norm.

ETA:
OP certainly is getting his 2 cents worth...

I should probably say something about strange quarks but I'm too sleepy.

Humans and their silly physics, math, and money. There are really only three numbers:

1. No treats.

2. My treat.

3. Enough of my treats to bury some of them for later.

Dogs have had the universe figured out for a long time.

Your all wrong.

This is part of the whoosh theory with jet engines that I came up with that afternoon in a science exam when I was 13. When two pennies collide they create something called a bankruptcy corficient. All you need is 3 more (the Upper Third) an dyou get a five piece bandwidth. This will cascade until a quid becomes a euro.

Air gets mixed up with fuel and it all gets a dash of oil in the carburretor. If you add vacuum filters you get whoosh. That is what makes the tires go round and the air gets above teh wings and everything happens at once. It's pretty simple really. Ask me about sheep farms in New Zealand and rubber trees that make condoms.

Then you can spend your penny.

I tried this as an experiment.

The pennies did indeed repel each other at first.

As time passed, however, they began to get along.
They got very close and eventually joined into one.

So far, there is no sign of any fruits of this union.
They just don't make any cents.

Oh, GAWD!!!

A penny for you to keep your thoughts (if there are more like that in there) to yourself.

Besides, they may be joined, but it isn't an official union. If they did produce offspring, it would be illegitimate, and someone would holler copper.

(My kitchen cabinets were installed properly, but the dumb contractor just couldn't make the counterfeit.)

positional math... great... here, there, here AND there (here is where I am, there is anywhere else)
