For the past week i haved been reporting abuse reports on my neighbor and one other person not sure which is responsible for this though my neighbor has object in the sky that seems to be generating them. the object is just on the other side of the property line so i can not do a thing with it. it creates zilllions of Mario bros that bounce off my land or bounce in the air annoy anyone that come on my land my friends and all.

i want to know why the LIndens have not come out and taken the object and deleting it why they have not done a dog gone thing about it. ti is happening in dari above my neighbor, Kurt Zidane's property. i , and my friends and others in dari are so mad and i have even used capital letters in the abuse reports but again they are back again the zillions of Maro Bros in the air the Lindens cant seem to look up and see them obviously

so i wonder how many abuse reports for how long do i have to report????? with pictures too???????

It is possible that your neighbor is not the one who owns the mario thing. Currently there is a griefer weapon known as the doomsday weapon which releases tons of particle paper marios. It might be possible that your neighbor left their parcel autoreturn off and was griefed. If they never come online to clean up their land, that would be the problem. Either way LL does need to come out there and take care of that. The marios not only lag your client but are also a risk to the sim's stability.

Try contacting live help.

I've run into similar situations and had great luck with an on-line Linden (*sigh* I know)popping in to take care of it.

The particle marios aren't from the Doomsday gun. They're from a griefer device known as a Mario Moshpit, whose sole purpose is to make the local sim unusable for other people. Call Help Request and ask that the Mario Moshpit be removed from your sim. There is no justifiable use for one, so the Lindens will probably take care of it without issue.

The Doomsday gun emits blue cubes which self-replicate each time they collide with something, and is a form of gray goo attack.

Just to clarify before anyone gets it in their head that particles not(*) are a threat to sims...

It's not the particles that are a "stability risk", it's the emitter prims, (which I suspect are scripted to be physical and bouncing around like angry atoms in a reactor core).

I haven't seen this particular griefer tool first hand, but I've seen a video clip of it in use.

(No, I'm not particularly interested in a demonstration, thanks anyway. :))

(*)-inserted a key ommitted word. never post without caffeine. Doh.

I saw the mario thing in action when I visited Baku. It was kind of impressive the way the whole screen was filled with little mario guys. Like thousands (it seemed like more but I know there's a 4000 limit on my prefs :) )

I still prefer the particle lab fireworks though :D

Verbuda, a Linden should absolutely come out and remove that device if the owner isn't responding. In the mean time, if it's just particles, have you considered turning off particle rendering in your client, so you don't have to see them?

Press ctrl-alt-D to bring up the two debugging menus. Then go Client -> Rendering -> Types -> Particles. Keep in mind that this will turn of all particles for you, not just the offending ones, so it's far from an ideal solution. It is a good temporary stop gap though so you can get some peace until you can get a liason out there to ax the thing.

It generally takes me about two weeks to get a response to abuse reports or pretty much anything that goes to that support email address. I'm still waiting on a few from close to two weeks ago. Trying to get a liason out there through live help would be your best option unless you want to wait another week.

We had a mario attack a while back in Rimutaka, one plea for help call on live help request brought a Linden out within I'd say about 10 minutes. The issue was cleaned up and resolved within roughly an hour.

It was crazy you couldnt see more than a couple of meters in front of you, and the noise...eeesh.

If you're going to be griefed (and it seems we all will be eventually) just be glad it's little tiny Mario Bros instead of a bombardment of large green penises wearing Christmas hats and cursing up a storm, then sobbing.

That griefer attack has to be the most surreal experience in my newbie days. I was torn between hilarity and irritation. It 's not really something you'd want to live with after a minute or two and it eventually brought down large portions of the main grid, so in the end, irritation won.

This is how I felt after the first time I ran into the Cosby Cube.

I have to admit, an army of little green cussing, sobbing penises wearing santa hats is kinda funny.

Whenever I see a particle attack starting I just turn particles off. And my sound is usually off anyways so it's business as usual.

Ahem....speaking of Mario....does anyone know where I can find decent Mario and Wario avatars? I found decent and cheap toad and koopa ones, but not Mario. Price is not a problem. I saw some on SLX but just 1 product, and I didn't like it very much. Thanks. :D

Clearly you weren't there for the grid-wide "tubgirl" beachball particle replication attack.

No, don't google it. Think of the kittens.

So now I have seen them too :( Millions of Marios, lol. Up in NE corner of Belial if anyone's interested in seeing them. Reported it to LL but I couldn't figure out who created them. Really annoying, but luckily I don't use that land plot atm.

It's the "Tai Chi retreat", Houndsfield 18,218. Three small red balls on the ground were generating all the Marios.

Hermia Linden has now dealt with it.

Wow, I'm fairly new to the game, and the stories I'm hearing so far are.. Wow.

I did a search on youtube for 'second life marios', and found this in the results:

Don't let the bored antics of a few misguided idiots put you off Dekker, the vast majority of people you will come across in Second Life are perfectly nice, sensible, normal people who are enjoying all that Second Life is.

Will Nintendo even allow that? They're pretty valuable branding properties, probably protected by both trademark and copyright.

I don't know what Nintendo's policy is. Some companies are happy to see their images being promoted by aficionados, other companies are run by lawyers who flunked marketing.

I don't know. There is such a thing as protecting brand identity as well. Controlling how your brand is used and in what context.

If you contact Help Request, Verbuda, make sure to tell them that you've filed an AR for the issue.
