Please help - Controlled Av without getting permission

A friend of mine (in RL & SL) is having problems with a male av that is contantly taking control of her avatar. It's not a really big thing, but its getting annoying for her (and me). Somehow he is able to put her av in an animation - usually a sex pose, without having her click on the Blue box that asks for permission.

She could be clearing out her inventory, or building and having the camera away from her avatar, only to find when she swings the camera back around, she's in some sort of pose that he has put her in.

She took to wearing a freebie shield at one stage, but that didnt stop him, so she didnt invest in a proper shield.

Would muting this guy stop his actions?

He is the partner of another friend of ours (friend in both RL & SL) and we dont want to fall out with her over this, but its getting ridiculous at this stage as it has been going on for months. The only way she can stop it is to log out. Stop all animations doesnt work, neither does one of those things you click on to stop animations. So is the mute function that powerful that it would stop him?

I usually log out when he's around so he hasnt managed to catch me.

He's a scripter if thats of any help..

i've never heard of this. She must be wearing something of his made of prims and at one point gave permissions because that would be the only way he would have access to her. This might sound stupid but tell her to strip and put on some other clothes preferably not made of prims This means no prim hair, shoes, dresses or anything. Just use the default stuff from Linden lab. She probably has something attached to her and he is sending a commant to it via chat.

Tell her to remove all attachments, including HUDs.

He's sending commands over a channel to an object she's wearing and he knows which channel it listens on.

Remind your friend that she doesn't need to wear her sex-related gear at all times.

I'm pretty sure this isn't possible unless she's wearing an attachment to enable it. I would start by removing ALL attachments and seeing if he can still do it.

Also, has he ever given her an object, or did she use something of his all those months ago? My experience is that objects only ask my permission to animate one time, and they have it permanently after that (could be wrong about that, though).

As far as i know she doesnt wear sex related stuff while she builds (which is mostly what we use SL for, or exploring) so I'll get her to double check what she is wearing, and get her to strip everythign off.

Inworld objects that aren't attached to you and that you don't sit on have to ask for permission. Only once, afterwards they can start different animations on your avatar over time. But only as long as you stay logged in, in the same sim, within range of the scripted object.

Prim attachments don't need to ask for permission. It's automatically granted as soon as you put them on. Same with poseballs; as soon as you sit down on them, they can do with you whatever the script wants. There are some poseballs that do ask for permission, but in that case the script starting the animation isn't inside the object you sit on, but in another object communicating with the balls (some sex beds work that way).

Btw, a poseball or any other object you sat on retains its permission to animate you even after you stood up. It could animate you only after you stood up, so you'd never think it's your sofa or your bar stool messing with your avi. Perhaps that's the case for Urah's friend? Or she once gave permission to an object that now constantly follows her. But that would only work as long as she stays logged in. I too think it's most likely a prim attachment.

You are not wrong. My AO only asks permission once, unless I've dropped it or reset the scripts. So, I think this would be the way it would work too. If it's not.. umm.. file a Support Ticket!

For prim hair and shoes, it also works to right-click + edit the linkset and select "Tools --> Set scripts in selection to not running" from the menu. You'll either get the message that there aren't any scripts in the selected object, or a list telling you which scripts have been stopped. She doesn't have to go bald

If you drop it on the floor, it has to ask for permission because it isn't attached to you. If you attach it, it doesn't need to ask. That's another way to test if a prim attachment plays animations btw... just rez it on the ground.

It's possible the object animating her does not appear to be sex related. You said he's a scripter, so it's very possible he created a very innocent seeming object (like a bracelet or a pair of shoes) that in fact gives him control over anyone who wears it.

Frankly, if she REALLY isn't consenting to this, and has told him so clearly, it's time for her to AR him.

Yes, attachments are special in that scripts in the root prim of an attachment can get some permissions without the blue dialog box, just like how things you sit on are permitted to animate you without your having to explicitly grant them permission.

To the OP's situation, however, it's important to note that once a script has permission to trigger animation on an agent, it retains that permission, *regardless* of whether that script is in an attachment, and regardless of whether the agent logs out and back in. The script only loses that permission when it is reset or requests permissions again (as with animating a different avatar).

Hence anything that ever got permission to animate you could still animate you at any time until its scripts are reset.

If it's been going on for months and she isn't inclined to say something to her partner, good riddance to them both, I say

it could be in her hair in a shoe anywhere as long as she is wearing something which can contain a script he can send commands to her so time to strip then work backwards and use one object at a time she had on until she finds the offending object and then toss it out

With "friends" like that, who needs enemies? Hey, ahve you told on him to his girl friend? Sounds to me like that is the least he deserves...

Indeed it is... And I suspect most girlfriends/partners would not care to hear that their boyfriend/partner is putting someone else into sexual positions.

I don't know about a cad, but I think he needs someone to play a similar trick on him (only done more cleverly).

Cad is really a tame word.

I mean the offender probably lives in his Mother's basement and enjoys pulling the wings off flies.

Ive heard he bathes once weekly, during which time his mom goes through 3 cans of Lysol and works furiously trying to clean up the dried puddles of drool and other bodily fluids.

His last girlfreind has submitted him for consideredation for Elective Sugury ala Lorena Bobbit, she still has nightmares of the one time she actuall met him in real life.

Although he claimed to look like Johnny Depp and had a doctored RL picture, his actual appearance led to such retinal scarring she now is forced to surf the internet in Braille.

Using scripted objects to scare women is the one little bit of "fun" such a useless walking infection has.

Still this goes as a lesson to you - dont accept candy from strangers. Especially the STRANGE strangers.

she gave him permission_trigger_animation at some point , you can keep the permission as long as you want in theory

Animate permissions never expire on their own unfortunately.

It's possible that the initial permission was given by faking a hug/kiss/etc script. As long as the script never gets changed, or reset, he can play any animation on her he wants as long as they're both in the same sim.

In that case there wouldn't ever be anything she can do about it (except avoiding being in the same sim with him) except abuse report it and hope a Linden actually looks into it.
