From: Conifer Dada I just voted to ban hate groups and replicating cubes.
The latter because I think any devices whose sole or main purpose is to frustrate or slow the performance of SL should not be allowed.
I can live with all the other things, just about Agree, Conifer, except I think it would enhance the SL experience if they could let hate groups in - but designate them fair game for griefing! O.O

I voted to tolerate all of the above. Ad-farms, griefers, and newbie penis'. It's all part of the experience. Plus you can't tell me you haven't laughed at the naked Cybergoth bumping into people with a penis 6 shades darker than their skin.

Do rotating skyscraper ad boxes even work? Do they entice anybody to buy the products they advertise? I guess like with spam emails, there is always some IDIOT that has to go check out the product... hence keeping the spam/ads coming.

Still None of the Violence. Larry Flint, Publisher of Hustler magazine reprinted a Photo from the Viet Nam War that saw very broad Publication on the front page of major newspapers, and Magazines. The photo depicted a vietnamese woman who had been Killed in a bombing raid. She was naked, Her clothing has been blown off, and she was Flat on her back, legs spread, body charred, and her belly blown Open. The caption under the Photo explained how broadly this picture had been shown, even on the 6:00 PM news across the USA. His only editorial comment was: If this woman were alive, whole, and healthy, THEN this Photo would be considered Obscene. We seem to have strange ideas about what should, and shouldn't be considered Obscene, or broadly offensive. Angel.

Ferel free to do you're own on Attacks/Violence, I'm sure there's 10 different types of it to consider banning

From: Alazarin Mondrian Steve Steed, one of the problems with banning self-replicating prims, iirc, is that things like rez-foo, rez-faux, builder's buddy and gun bullets all use similar 'technology'. Don't take that as gospel though as I'm not that much of a techie. Any scripters out there care to clear this one up please? Rez-faux and things like that are not self-replicating. They are merely rezzing different objects from their inventories into the right positions. The self-replicating cubes the OP referred to DO replicate THEMSELVES, including their ability to replicate, thus generating an exponential growth of useless garbage together.

Can't believe that camping wasn't included! Would have been my number 1 or at least number 2.

Ban banning.
06-09-2007 17:19
Here we have an environment where no one can get killed or physically hurt in any way. This is a long standing dream of mine come virtually true. I wouldn't vote to ban or censor anything (except Real Life images and info that COULD hurt people). Annoyance is not a good enough reason to ban something.
I survived a griefer attack on a sim not too long ago -- some kind of giant prims filling the sky that may have been the self-replicating thingies spoken of earlier. I didn't really see them, but we were all stuck and could not TP out. Whereas I certainly don't advocate that kind of offensive behavior, I have to admit it kind of broke the monotony, like being stuck with strangers in a storm shelter during a tornado. I also had great admiration for watching all the SL officers or land owners or self-appointed vigilantes, or whatever they were, working together to overcome this menace using a lot of arcane language that was essentially magic to the techno-challenged like me.
The point is -- banning is important in real life for obvious reasons, but in a world where no one can get hurt, we have the opportunity to experiment with almost complete anarchy. Let's just see what happens (while we still can). K.C.

From: Brenda Connolly /me grins evilly. Besides the penis is never the problem. it's the A-hole it's attached to. rotflmao Seriously though, any real censorship in SL will kill it. You can't have user generated content and be PG at the same time. It just is not human nature.

K.C. Well said!!! The only thing I would ban would be intolerance. Which would necessarily include the bannination of anyone who wishes to ban anything... What happened to this place in the last few months?

What happened to this place in the last few months? The Lindens decided to make vague blog posts about age/identity verification and offensive immorality before doing enough focus groups to find out what the actual user base really wants and needs, and it has led to a panic. Between this and performance issues, morale in SL is at a new all-time low. This storm will someday end, but the best option may eventually be to migrate en masse from the mainland into an adult-verified private continent and rebuild the SL we know there instead. I don't see any will from LL to keep the vision that they once had for the mainland, and it may be that they just don't have the manpower anyway. So I'll be a broken record and again suggest the one way out that might do them some good: get positioned as a common carrier ASAP.

Seems to me that the community has changed for the worse.
Ah well, it used to be good. I have my memories...
BAN BAN BAN...
NO NO NO...
Leave it alone like it was. A friend of mine might say "Tards" at this point. I might agree too.

Let the Linden mainland become the Family Friendly Corprate Playground, and have private continents where the owners and residents can decide what they want to go go on.

Funny, it should be the other way around where they can but can't access the grid. The Moderators got tired of Policing the Non Verified Spam, why should it be any different for the game?!
