Sorry if this is a wierd question, but can the 1 prim linden trees causee lag? I use several of them around the border of my property and I didn't know if having to both draw them and keep track of their swaying motion creates lag or generally slower performance for myself and others. If so, which is better, a 1 prim linden tree bobbing in the wind or a 3 to 6 to 8 prim tree (like those form heart gardens for example) that are static?

Thanks guys.

Nope they can't. Someone explained it here, but they are mesh objects and do not lag a sim. I will see if I can track down his post.

But they can lag a client depending on the power of the CPU and/or GPU and/or ammount of (or lack of) RAM and of course depending how much else is going on where ever the trees are.

See post 10 of this thread. Ignore my last answer, I really don't know enough about lag to have anwered the questions, so I deleted it.

Thanks.

That other thread seemed to give Linden trees whole hearted approval so I'll keep mine for now and just spice them up with the occasional prim tree like I have been. I take the point about client side lag in an under-powered computer, but that would be true of anything I put out. At least the linden trees repeat the same thing over and over rather than unique textures of varied prim trees.

I suspect that any performance issues I am seeing are from the sims around mine filling up and adding thier builds and such to my draw efforts and not my trees.

Thanks again!
