If you noticed the date that was released it was two years ago... If that was still the case in this forum it'd of been exploited way before now ;)

So i'm going to bank on that isn't the case. Unless SL has just been insanely lucky ^^
i seem to remember somebody hijacking a bunch of Lindens' forum accounts last year. wasn't that only possible because LL were using an even earlier version of vBulletin than we have now? hadn't its exploit been known about (and published) a long long time before somebody here took advantage of it?

maybe i'm recalling details wrongly. feel free to correct me. ;)

edit: http ://www.sluniverse.com/forums/Topic7890-1-1.aspx#bm7903

people in that thread speculate on LL using a version of vbulletin (with known about, published exploits) for a long time before they were hacked.

Well IF they did get hacked last year, I couldn't see them waiting 2 YEARS to act on the bbcode exploit. Unless, no offense to anyone, they got a complete and utter moron working on their site.

Maybe they'll make it where you have to be premium to post in the forums, basics would only get read access.

I see in the release notes for 1.17 that the embedded mozilla browser now start working for secure sites.

From: someone
* Fixed embedded Mozilla browser to work with HTTPS sites (affected Windows only)

Does that mean we'll be able to access the second life forums and other parts of secondlife.com in the in-world mozilla browser?

Wouldn't require bbcode to be off thats a simple usergroup thing :p but would defintally suck.

Well, what do you know?

I'm posting this from the mozilla browser in the beta grid.

Now it they can just trim off some of the fat from the mozilla panel, and make a custom front end for the forums than makes exceedingly efficient use of screen space.

They could lose the useless header image, for starters.

Also I can access my transaction history and the other stuff on secondlife.com.

Still some glitches in how it displays.

I got to the wiki, to the LSL portal. Definitely cool. Added a sentence to my page, and it worked.

Course, this doesn't mean that this is what's in store.

Got to jira.secondlife.com, logged in, made an edit to one of my proposals. It worked.

I opened up photobucket in my web tab, took a screen capture with Snagit, emailed to to photobucket, refreshed the webtab, and here's the pic:

Without leaving SL. (except for the snagit part.)

let's see, one could send a snapshot to Snapzilla, then open that to get the pic, and post to the forums without leaving SL at all. Pretty nice.

They'll be needing to put tabs in the Mozilla browser.

I bet they've got something fancy in the works.

hmm, I need a link to gmail but bb code is off - but I can get to google from the secondlife.com search page that's lets you search secondlife.com from google.

Wow, that is cool! That's actually something I'd use, if they get it to fully work.

Darn, Cristiano has snapzilla set to switch to Snapzilla-mini when it detects it is being accessed from the sl mozilla browser.

Why oh why can't we just send a snapshot as a simple email with an attachment instead of all those extra bitmaps it uses to simulate a postcard?

If I email the snapshot to photobucket it keeps the little postcard-piece bitmaps.

The worst thread in RA is civil and courteous compared to the average flame-fest ridden second citizen thread. The other third-party forums I know of are rarely frequented.

Agreed.

I bet they've got something fancy in the works.

/me also bets this but is a bit worried as things that use the map api (land store, etc) haven't worked in IE7 for a long time now - AFAIK, they don't plan on making it work, either. I'm not really that interested in having to get another brower just to see these forums.
