Is LL using stupid names to keep land prices down?

nor can i giannia.

there is a 512 plot next to my land. has been for sale for weeks if not months.

i wonder if the seller has ever figured out why it does not sell?

asking price?

L$20,000.

so where are these "lower" prices i keep reading about?

All over. 10 to 11L per metre gets you "lots".
Water plots at the edge of the world seem to be asking about 14 to 15 per metre in Nautilus. That's just from a few spot checks.
The maps are still very very Yellow!

Search - Type: Land Sales / Mainland Only
Area >= 1024 (for example)
Price <= 11000 (for just over 10/metre)

or

Area >= 512 (for example)
Price <= 6000 (for just over 10/metre)

You should be seeing hundreds of plots. So many that if you page through them too quickly, LL thinks you're a land bot and slows things down

If those plots were particular bargains the landbots would buy them. ;)

Bigger plots for 10L/m are fewer, but you could always buy a few adjoining plots.

Question:
What's the highest-priced mainland 512 stuck in the middle of a 'ordinary-to-griefed' inland sim that anyone's seen? Obvious joke prices like 100,000 don't count.
I've seen a 25,000!

Can you imagine the rush to move into a sim named "YoMama"? It would be a griefer paradise, because they will always approach strangers and ask them "Guess where I live." :D

I've seen a First Land that was scooped up and listed for sale at $40,000. After about two months I Im'd the New To The Game owner and mentioned there was no way it would sell. He said if he didn't get 40k he wouldn't sell. Live'n'learn huh?

I think the silly names are great - I owned a bit of land in Mudsucker for a while - the name didn't stop me buying it and it didn't stop someone else buying it off me!

I have been hinting for some time that there ought to be a sim called Woot, but as yet I think this has fallen on deaf ears!

Re. expensive land - there is a 128m plot adjoining my place that has been on sale for over 12,000 L$ since December 06. I recently IM'd the owner asking if they were interested in offers and they said no, they were holding out for the full price.

I love the name :D Sounds like something out of an old poem. "With bravery he wields the spork, to kill the rabid platypus..."

Oh now I am plain scared since I was thinking about my fear of Porky's sporks ...

I could out myself here I guess if anyone was on The Sims Resource forum they will remember the platypus in question ... oui, c'est moi!

LOL. *sprays water all over monitor* I honestly never really thought about the names apart from a passing "cool name" (damn I almost bought Blofeld, but didn't like the sim's terrain), or "WTF". Guess there's a lot of WTF going down these days. I'll have to hit the auction page and have a giggle.

Hmmn, so in a week or so when I put up my land in Black Art for sale I should flog the hell out of the name? "Ohhh, com buy land in the very cool Black Art. Great for Wizards, Vamps and those who walk on the dark side..."

Thanks, Raymond!

.. or a sim called There and you build a skybox. Then you could say you live over there!

.. or for the very timid, a sim called Fear. Then they would live in fear ;)

*looks at list*

"Horrorbag"? What the...

"Effingham" amuses, however.

*reviews list of names again*

Oh yes, the crack pipe was going around the office that day. Yes, it was.

So
if LL come up with a nice water sim on a guaranteed edge of a continent and name it ButtUglyCrapWhereEvenwtf2008Ih8thisnam3SmithWouldn'tLive,
and sensible people won't buy it,
would all the loonies please agree to form a queue *behind me* so I can buy it for cheep?

This is the funniest thread I've seen so far. Sorry to revive it just to say so.

I want to live in ButtUglyCrapWhereEvenwtf2008Ih8thisnam3SmithWouldn'tLive.

Oh, and please notice that I am both new and do not have any numbers in my name.

I avoided buying a small parcel in Stinkhorn. I just didn't think it would advertise well.

I relocated to Goremoor just because I liked the name... and also because I'm working on a little haunted house I figured GOREmoor is perfect.

I live in Blackmount, and I deliberately chose this place for the sim name...
I had to look up some of the sillier names mentioned in this thread cos I couldn't believe it....whoah.

I want what they had been smoking!

I got the Animatum sim in Nautilus based largely on it's name. It worked well for my business, the name of the 3 sims connecting to mine (one side is end of the world water) are however not quite as nice sounding as Animatum; Plontafus; Ulahoo; Gladzyck. I have wondered how Animatum ended up in the midst of those.

Not to be a Buttinski, but who is the Fumb Delchdork in the Mainland Sim naming department that thinks that people will be lining up to bid on parcels with names like Hoobelch or Ghulffoot?

You'd have to be a Poob or have just smoked a fat Nuggy to plunk down major cash for a sim named Jorondip or Borgbeef (although when combined, they make a tasty deli sandwich).

Dogoog it, I don't mean to raise a Broo, but this is one time I have to give LL the Tholtfinger.

Sincerely,

Gormthoog Tschotcke

I would kill my granny with a broken lawn chair to be able to own a sim called Borgbeef.
