I wear a regular Amethyst slim collar.

The collars I've seen are all adjustable, and being relatively simple rings, they're easy to resize to fit any neck.

Yea, but most of them seem so "girly", you know? And I don't want something spiky either. Looking for something elegant but definately "male". I need something more masculine. I saw something celtic somewhere, I think it was Onrez, but did not have much info. I tried to find it inworld, had the store but when I got there, no go.

Master & Slave store, you can change the look pretty much to anything you want. Plain metal, gems, add name, whatever. Does a ton of stuff. Only I wouldn't put it on my ferret, they can wiggle right out of it.

Ok, I laughed so hard over the hamster i nearly hyperventalated.

Love it

The Collar the OP is seeking is definately the Amathyst. you can either purchase one of the complete Collar packages, or just the scripts, and you can apply them to a Collar design of your own. Amathyst Collars also have the Option of Locking your slave to a Hitching Post. The leashes have variable lengths (And densities so you can cut back Effect you have on lag) they are Voice, and text command, Can have Multiple owners, and you Can add additional poses over what is offered by Amathyst. They are, Quite Honestly, the best there is.

... If you need their featureset and have a good computer. If your slave is at all prone to lag, go with M&S. Well-chosen smaller feature set, and the lowest-lag commercial collar I've seen. Control via chat or HUD.

You can buy the Amethyst scripts separately and put them into any collar you like - you just then lack the labeling ability and the (stupid) bell. I sell a heavy brass collar which would suit a burly slave. It's unscripted, just drop the Amethyst scripts in and off you go.

You don't lose the labeling capability at all.. at least not for if you're using a collar you built.. in fact, the capability is even more, since you can use any font, color, characters, # of characters (Within reason), etc that you can find to use in photoshop(Or w/e)

No I think what was meant was the inbuild LCD display type label that is on the Amythist collar, it automatically displays the name of the wearer. rather than having to retuxture the collar. Yes you do have more freedom with a custom collar if you can do the work :)

DK Knights collar...
11-03-2007 18:43
DK Knights collar is GREAT! 27 different styles in one collar. Has everything you would need. The Amethyst collar is ugly and doesn't notify you when it comes off due to a clothes change or whatever which caused me some trouble with my Master. I finally got so sick of it that I spent a day looking for a better one and came upon DK Knights. Unfortunately I''m now back with this SUCKY Amethyst collar because my new Mistress is used to it. That's why its still so popular, everyone is used to the commands.

Do you mean it notifies of removal, and specifies it as due to clothes change? And looks don't matter, I'll likely build my own.

It notifies the owner(s), but not the reason why. Gets one in trouble on occasion...

The speed of your computer does not affect the amount of lag scripts produce, since the scripts run purely on the server.

As for aesthetics, well... there are some spiked versions that look pretty sinister, but all that I've seen are very shiny and too "pretty" for a male slave, imho, so the Amethyst "script only" option in a rough chain collar of one's own construction may be an alternative.

I guess all the Masters and Mistresses I've met want their slaves or pets, male or female, to look pretty. Still, Xcite has a variety, including, I believe, simple leather (colorable) and studded leather. Amethyst lets you set the color, so solid black or black with grey, while simple, seems masculinie enough to me. M&S has a large variety of designs, though I really only like the gay pride rainbow collar.

Of course, my Amethystis black with pink trim, but I'm a pretty boy and my Master likes me that way.

Can't say that I do. Consider that the sort of necklaces popular among young men in RL today are generally quite slender, often just small beads or shells, or leather cords. When I was their age, those would certainly have been considered feminine, even childish. So virtually all SL collars seem masculine to me, just because of the size and weight. I have the slim model of the Amethyst, and even that seems too thick to be particularly feminine.

I suppose to each his or her own. I'm not sure what sort of celtic you mean, but Xcite has some metalllic patterns that might be celtic - I'm not expert. I consider them the least masculine of their line. Not necessarily feminine, mostly incongruous as a slave collar.

Do you mean it doesn't notify you, as the collar wearer? Because it certainly does notify your owner if you take it off (assuming it's been locked). And if you get into trouble because you took it off without noticing - well, slaves are supposed to know better :)

That is what I meant - and the label text can be changed on the fly (and I have seen some ODD labels used as punishment).

Note that the collar that comes with the RR Serious Shackles set has a similar LCD display - but only can you change the text, the colour of the text and the colour of the text background with a command, you can also change the FONT, which steals a march on Amethyst.

Celtic, yes, had a metallic pattern on it, sort of entertwining circular pattern. I liked this one, because of my (well, my alt truthfully but that is another story lol) pets heritage. It seemed appropriate, and appealed to me on an aesthetic level too. It was a burnished steel, really nice.

I shall look at the Amethyst tho. I didn't know about it until I read this thread and since it's coming so highly recommended and has so many ways of reconfiguring it, it could be worth considering. I'll check out Xcites options too. I realized also, that since he is on the small/short size in stature, that maybe one of the others which are slimmer, which can be changed to fit my personal preferences would, in the end, be a better choice.

Thanks again for clarifying things further.

Correct, just use the 'lock' command (with whatever prefix you've decided on) and the owner will be informed. the same go's for the matching cuffs ( take the key and whoever took the key get's informed).

Ame's collars are clean, well featured, well developed, stable, have a good range of poses, flexible and superb customer service. Plus as said before can be put in a custom collar ( I use ame contents in a custom collar ) too.

Thank you!! Was reading this thread trying to wrack my brain for the name of this one.

The Amethyst was pretty much the "gold standard" in collars until the DK Knights product. In addition to doing everything the Amethyst does, it can be changed into MANY different looks, from the broader collars with all kinds of gems, or plain, to the round, circular, Turian collar (also in several metals). Many large Gorean houses that used to use the Amethyst are now going with DK Knights.

Also, updates in new collar styles, etc. come with the collar for the life of the product. And I *think* it is a also a bit less L.

I would go to mention the collar I wear myself. It comes from Night Breeds, check it out if you get a chance.

Amethyst collars DO do this, with one of the add ons.. all of those come for 1L$ total, and just drop in... maybe not even one needed. The command to enable this is
.lock
from the owner.

And thanks everyone ^^ I went with an amethyst leather from sensations!
Wonderful^^
