Which forums do you plan to haunt after the embalming of this one?
NOTE: you can pick more than one, and answers are public. That way, I'll be able to stalk y'all.
I haven't tried any of them yet. I kept hoping that LL would be their typical self and not quite do what they promised. Ah well. When the lights go out here, I'll head to the one with the most votes first, and move on to the next if it bugs me. I don't plan to visit more than one regularly.
Personally, I'll be looking for the one that's the most helpful in the widest range of areas, and of course where there are beautiful women to flirt with.
One of my biggest disappointments about closing this forum is that before, when a someone had a good question I couldn't answer, I would always recommend the SL forums as a great option for information.
I just can't bring myself to recommend to anyone that bastardization of conflicting goals that folks call the "blogorum". It's proof that while you can't please everyone, you sure can piss everyone off.

None for me. I'm done with forums, Lear, and that's not just pique with the Lindens: I don't see the point when the content creation forums go down. The shenanigans on Resident Answers often made for a very fine diversion but I can well do without further diversion from now on.
Still, I always enjoyed your posts. You've been the perfect gentleman I always wished I could have been when posting.

The thing is, we NEED content creation help forums, SOMEWHERE. If LL won't provide them, it's up to us to fill the void (no offense, Ms. Singer!) I hope you reconsider. Otherwise, you'll be missed.

i chose several options. but i'm sure i'll settle down to just one.
i do want to keep my mind open and see what LL offers us next week. if it's similar to this, i might prefer that.
undecided.

Probably not any of the forums. I just don't like any of the alternate forums very much, for a variety of reasons.
I'll need to find another way to keep up with what's happening. Perhaps in-world groups, or Avatars United if it takes off. I like being able to keep up with what people are doing there, but that kind of depends on them updating their information, and AU not putting every accepted friend request back on the home page. It's like drinking from the fire hose.

oh -- i didn't read the blogs. Are they going to replace this forum with a new forum -- an actual forum and not the blogorum?

I'm surprised that SLUniverse isn't scoring higher, since it is one of the oldest alternative forums. I wonder what is the reason for that? Could it be the negative experiences people had in the past when Josh ruled that forum? That is my first guess.

From: Lear Cale oh -- i didn't read the blogs. Are they going to replace this forum with a new forum -- an actual forum and not the blogorum? They are going to make a replacement, but they haven't said what it will be. We've tried to guess, but they don't confirm or deny the guesses. We've asked what categories or subforums they will have, but those apparently are yet to be determined (!). My guess is that they will simply begin to allow discussions on SL Answers. And for you content creation people - I don't think there is an easy answer as to which alternative forum is best, since you have the same problem everyone else has, which is personal preference.

I have just signed up to Second Citizen, having looked at SLU and backed away a while ago. No offence to those that like it, but its not my style.
I wont leave this place until it doesnt exist any more, though. I am not the rat leaving the sinking ship, hoping to be the last to give up and sail it into harbour before/if it does sink...

I'll try to remain active on both SLU and whatever LL forces down our thtoats in the Blogorum, but I expect my participation level to be a mere 1/10 of what it was here.
I'll give the blogorum 6 months as a good faith effort. But if iy doesn't vastly improve, I expect I will only use it when I feel a dire need to scream "NO!!!" at some new idiocy LL is planning. *sighs*
It's been fun, folks. Too bad LL values its customers opinions and preferences so little.

I'd rather be inworld, anyway. (^_^)y

Despite my better judgement, I'll amend my first response and give The Providers one more chance to prove they are listening and will do something that we ask. I spent some time last night on the Blogorama/SL Answers. It's awful, slow, clunky and not intuitive, to me at least. If that is all they will offer, I'll pass. I don't like the Q and A format of SL Answers, so if that is where discussion will take place, once again, I'll pass. If there is a forum style discussion area, sanely and consistently moderated, I'll give it a shot. Since people are scattering, I won't be frequenting any 3rd party forum. I still have no interest in AU.

I'll wait and see.
I already go to SCmkII, but I've never really considered it very SLish, more a thing unto itself. I more-or-less stopped reading/posting at SLU as someone annoyed me, but that could change I suppose.

Inworld.
Going to hang out at the Drop-Offs and Infohubs, and pretend that each new arrival is George Clooney.
Will take them shopping, and get them fixed up for you....then take them back to my place for a cocktail or two, and go over all the nuances and intrigue of SL....in detail. I'll have them ready to go within 48 hours....thank me later.

I was really turned off by the moderation there, quickly closing posts for having "lengthy" discussions, even when the TOS there says that is their purpose, for discussion.

Could it be the negative experiences people had in the past when Josh ruled that forum? That is my first guess. For me, it has nothing to do with that. When I joined, I was not made to feel welcome there. Just didn't feel I fit in, which is strange since a lot of people I know are there. When I joined SCII, the people there made me feel at home immediately and I hardly knew anyone on that board. Simple as that.

For now, SLU and SCII. I may try some of the others, too. Sooner or later, one will feel more like home than the others.
I like the community at SLU, but find their format is cumbersome and harder to use.

I say we go nowhere and occupy these forums and make them remove us by force. A sit in! Where's Scylla? Get everyone inside! I'll hold the bastards off.

Out of here = out of SL. Just one too many crappy decisions from LL that just make it to hard to be an involved resident

I still have no interest in AU. This is pretty much where I am now, too. I'll pop in on some of the third-party forums occasionally, as before, but they're never going to get the critical mass that this place has now. The new blogorums won't either, initially, and that sucks, but maybe over time, as new folks come in and turn from helped to helpers... maybe. I do intend to spend more time in whatever scripting forum they give us there. I've let myself get too buried with other commitments and haven't done anything helpful in Scripting Tips for months and months, so this is an excuse to get more engaged again. (Note: it's not that third party forums' efforts to have content creation areas shouldn't be appreciated, but there's a huge "network effect" advantage to having them all in one place, and I just don't see that shifting from LL's site.) By the way, what's happening on SLA is *not* what they have planned for the forums, I'm very sure of that. I think it will be much more like the Commerce Forums, such as they are. It kind of sucks that most resident questions are probably going to just naturally go to SLA--not that they can't handle them, but it has always been a good source of topics for Resident Answers and a reason to keep checking in.

I wish I'd known that a new forum here was an option before I posted. +1 for ignorance.
I'll give whatever they plant here a good try before abandoning it.
But I think I'll take this opportunity to investigate some of the others anyway.
