From: Rhaorth Antonelli 2002? SL just announced their 4th BD, but an account from 2002 would be 5 yrs old, how does that work?
Was SL open previous to the day or year they use to celebrate their birthday? They do have things called Beta software...

Was SL open previous to the day or year they use to celebrate their birthday? I was playing in beta in 2002, game was releases in 2003 to Public. I am not a Linden, just came here orginally from TSO beta because I was told I could create anything. First time I could barely figure out how to dress, do the simple things. Never saw single avatar except once during that time. I took long break before I returned but that account I couldn't reactivate.

Second Life is dealing more and more with IP addresses when it comes to anyone in violation of the DMCA when certain issues go to court involving copyright infringing.
As far as I know - that is the ONLY avenue Linden Labs travels down when dealing with IP addresses.
In other words, they limit SL accounts per e-mail address, not IP addresses.

I have 2 characters in SL - both are using free accounts and both have seperate email addresses - that seems to be the only requirement for setting up multiple free accounts. Only shame is that I can't have both characters active at the same time!

The 5 accounts I ran to test what could be a limitation, I ran from a single PC through a router, using a single IP address and a single Mac, I also made up these accounts using the same email address, perhaps a fluke that I could? I only intended to make certain tests to see the ramifications on a system, with regard to running cache's on different HD's (yest I have 5), how the GC would cope and various other elements. I could, if I needed to, use the IP addresses from our 5 servers, each having upto 10 IP addresses each, but my intensions were simply to test some theories. The one limitation I came across, was not bandwidth download, but upload speed bandwidth. Running 5 accounts was dooable provided you didn't want to actually do much. As a matter of interest though, using 5 different cache loacations, each having its own HD, did make a difference to performance (each HD is on its own SATA II MB port btw, I don't know if IDE would even cope.

"they won't allow multiple accounts to share the same e-mail address."
I seem to have slipped under the radar, then. My primary (premium) and alt (basic)account use the same email address, and I haven't been asked to pay for the second one.
Of course, I'd do so if asked.

Of course, I'd do so if asked. My primary and alternate account is under same email too. I didn't see any thing where it said it couldn't be.
