Worst I swaw was one day at Perwinkle Infohub, an obsenely dressed & styled AV pushing newbies around and off a 20ft drop as soon as they spawned he would corner female avatars in the corner so the would then be forced to either log out or TP to escape. Myself & 2 others all sent abuse reports but this continued for nearly 2 hours, we were all to new ourselves to do much more than push him away, which only slowed him down if anything.
I don't know how many saw him as their first experience of Second Life and left never to return, we teleported many of them to another infohub and eventually he got bored and left, didn't hear any result back from the abuse reports other than a robot reply 2 days later.

This is one of the most chilling things I think I've read here yet.

Sorry you were "chilled" by my attempt at humour. Based on the rest of what you wrote, I obviously didn't get across what I was trying to say albeit in a jokey manner.

I do NOT automatically judge people based on what they are wearing. Even the ones who are wearing nothing at all except maybe an attachment. I almost always check profiles before talking to someone.

If a guy is naked (and sorry but I have never seen a naked female avatar outside of a skin shop or a strip club), I first give him pants and suggest that he put them on. I explain that nudity isn't appropriate or appreciated everywhere in SL. And that he'll get more respect/attention whatever with pants on.

If he is humping everything in sight or making comments, I drop a landmark for a sex club on him and explain that contrary to what he might have been told, SL is not a 24/7 orgy.

ETC!!

What I was TRYING to say was that I don't consider these people to be griefers at all. They are not intending to grief you. They are simply entering into a "game" that they don't fully understand or have been mis-sold. Some people do count them as griefers and without warning ban, eject. I don't see how this helps. They won't know what they have done wrong.

I have a very good track record for successfully talking over-sexed newbs INTO their pants. Ditto on getting shooters to stop. And based on the pleasant conversations I've had with some of them once they are not waving it about - I wouldn't bet on callow youth as being their major malfunction.

Hope this is less chilling then you thought!

I didn't sign up to train people while I'm playing SL. Assuming ( yes I say assuming ) everyone is 18+ when they download SL, and have some basic concept and comprehension of what the game is .. then it's not my job to school griefers on how to be nice in a game, just as they would in real life. I'll help new players, sure, on how to use the controls, dress, etc. But I'm not taking time to explain to another adult "Shooting penises at people is wrong." Come on, Lol. It's no one's fault but the griefer themselves if they didn't stop for 10 minutes and read about SL before downloading it. I'll just AR and move along, thanks.

Same here. The way i see it if they are adults doing that stuff, their not worth the time it takes for me to type out a response before i AR them. However if they are under 18 i will at least give them the benefit of a lesson in maturity before the AR.
