Hi All

I need your help with my studies. I am doing a research and I wanted to hear what you the resident of SL feel about the potential of SL as a learning tool.

If you have spare 10mins, I would really appreciate your help.

Here's the link to my online questionnaire (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=UEUQni6GwrANyA5niE74tA_3d_3d)

Research aim:

The purpose of this study is to explore the pedagogical implications of Second Life for students and teachers. The study will focus on why teachers have accepted Second Life as a platform for teaching. And to explore this tool further for possible educational opportunities and advantages from a residents’ perspective.

About me:

I am completing a masters degree at a University in New Zealand. I have been on SL for sometime now and am really fascinated by the potential it has for students. I'll be talking to educators who have taught using SL and I need to hear your views as well to gain a deeper understanding of SL and it's potential.

I would love to hear what your thoughts are on this topic.

Thanks alot :-)

Wow - points in your favor:

- we have not actually had a survey request in quite a few weeks (some weeks we get many)

- your intro page is well written, with well defined objective and goals, and a decent amount about your credentials

- your survey is pretty well written, without ambiguous questions or asking for information that has nothing to do with what you claim to be studying

I do not normally take these surveys but I did take this one and enjoyed doing so and helping you.

That's an interesting and nicely formatted survey but I suggest you put some more of the detail about yourself and why you are doing the survey in the post above.

I almost ignored the request and only followed the link against my usual impulse. It was your introductory page that decided me to respond.

Learning, it is possible that you are not interested in the responses of SL educators themselves, but if you are, can I suggest that you join the SL Educators list (SLED)? You can post your request for responses there too.

I forgot to add - you get extra points for already being in SL for quite a while.

:)

That was pretty painless. I even went so far as to think out and write an answer to the last question, the open-ended one.

The only one that gave me pause was "I feel that Second Life is what is needed to ..." I forget the rest of the words. I would have answered neutrally there, because I don't actually have an opinion.

Aside from that, good job on the survey. Hope you find out what you need to know.

Ah...lol. I'd only seen the June join date and assumed the worst! Then was incredibly dissapointed with the lack of insults in the thread... I might even complete the survey :)

That's the most well thought out survey I have seen so far - well done!

I advise you to correct the English mistakes though - before Pep gets here!

Yeah, you're right. I should have kept it simple. I was thinking of Ben and didn't want another young lad upset.

How many "young lads" have you "collected" so far Madame Llanfair?
Anyway Pep has kipped off for the night. Havent you noticed how he always clocks off around this time? His little sleeping cap wuffling as he snores away with Mrs Kip. His kids have probably crept out and getting pissed in a local pub.

It's still so hot and sticky here it's hard to sleep because of that! Don't forget your bed socks!

My sheltie dog is suffering from the heat - she has such a heavy coat. I've put a desk fan on the floor for her and she is laying in front of it with her water bowl nearby.

I must go too - must shout at the kids. If I don't yell at them every hour or so, they start to wonder if I've died at the keyboard.

Night, night Jig

Ha ha! No, I've not noticed log-of times and I have twin teenage lads in residence. Probably maternal instincts that I can't keep down!

I am sure Pep snores though. Regardless of what he may claim, I am convinced he could not have got through life without getting a punch on the nose - so his nasal cavities will be damaged.
