Okay im getting thorough annoyed now

Ive been trying to rez items for a built and they just poof from my inventory never to appear in world.

Im also getting prims that accept texture changes then change back

and prims I move that move back.

Any Idea why this is happening other than Dan L is out to get me for saying stuff about him?

The missing items could just be delayed rezzing, relog and see if they appear.

The prims moving back and textures changing back happen to me all the time and are due to my lag. For textures, take off the 'apply immediately' and use the 'select' button expressly. Helps me alot.

I tried to pull something out of inventory earlier tonight and it just kept giving me error after error until I gave up. No more work tonight!

I haven't done any serious building in a while.

It never used to be like this.

I'm rather disappointed.

For the past 4 days I've had about a 50% chance of rezzing items, regardless of where I am. Sometimes I get an error message, other times nothing happens. I'm also seeing successful rezzes take up to 30 secs to occur sometimes. (This screws up a lot of objects that use the object_rez event, by the way...)

Oh, I'm also seeing a 50% chance of deleting items. Sometimes I have to pick Delete on an item 4 times before it goes away. This has been happening for a week.

oh gee, then i had it good last night - i was getting asset timeouts only about 1 in 4 while scripting/moving prims last night... ;)

serious havoc - saving a script or notecard, 1 in 4 failures (asset timeout); taking/rezzing objects the same... also scripted object ops (in this case my vendors) just having trouble starting up, as if the running script couldn't even pull up the 'settings' notecard asset to read!! even the scripts can't read the notecards sometimes... if even all the scripts themselves can seem to pull themselves up. :\

keeping many text files/bus on my desktop, but i do hope the server doesn't completely unravel on us. :\ makes little sense to save a script or notecard inworld if even a guest may not be able to get a copy or use the scripted object if the assets can't pull together the script/notecard reader/etc etc... y'know?? worried. :\

It has been really bad the last few days.. I have pretty much giving up on building lately.. Too frustrating, and just too many problems.. Same for buying anything expensive.. Just too risky right now..

LL had better wake up and fix this.. If content creators cannot create, vendors cannot sell, and people are afraid to buy... Well the already shaky economy cannot take much more of this.

I've started using Google Documents for all my important 'notecards.' I'll just copy/paste when it's time to send something. I still haven't gotten around to using an offline editor for scripts- however I always do a CTRL+A, CTRL+C before clicking Save in case chaos ensues.

yah i just copy/paste to textwrangler and try to keep a scripts folder at home of all the important stuff (which is like, -everything- lol :) it's also much handier and faster to edit in tw with the lsl script plugin - sweet, find/replace between multiple open scripts!! :)

well also, lest i be misunderstood, i wanted to say in reflection i don't want to sound like a doomsayer about 'servers unraveling' or anything... actually the prob strikes me more like a 'sorry, all our circuits are currently busy; please try again' like the phone cos. however it's very irritating, and just wondering whether it's due to a) a grid retuning or b) extreme upsurge in some account/alt scripting activity that bunging things out. :\
or c) something else entirely :) anyhow, rock on :)) lol!

either the sim is lagging, or you've been stealth logged... all those things happen to me under both conditions... I relogs to find I'd rezzed about 50 boxes in a store...that was fun to clean up

I really, seriously wonder what the impact would be if all 24/7 temp-rezzers in-world one day just vanished. I have a feeling it would buy us at least a few months of fast, reliable rezzin'. (I have no problem with rez-on-request temp-rezzers. It's the permanent ones that bug.)

Is this still happening?
02-25-2008 14:12
Don't suppose this problems been fixed yet has it?
I've just put out my new showroom with sales items etc only to find half of it missing.
It's a bit odd though... only the sales buttons from my displays are missing (not all, but well over half)... and when I drag over everythhing in edit mode it says the right amount of prims are there, but they're NOT!!!
Have tried leaving the sim and going back, relogging, clearing cache etc, etc.

As above "is it fixed yet" maybe a closure ..

When I have building probs the method that helps me determine the next steps are as follows ..

TP out to a few random places ( with build enabled ) and see if the problem persists .. If it does .. it's more than likely a grid wide problem .. Action go socialise.

If the problem seems to be confined to the sim you are working .. try a relog or ask the sim owner to restart the sim.

"Usually" ( offered with a large pinch of salt ) this test will show you if it's OK to carry on building .. or to call it a day and find something else to do :)

i had a shop (well still do) in teh sim Ever After, it has been set up and running and not changed since april of 2007

on feb 18th the parcel was 'empty' nothing was 'returned' to my avatar, did support ticket and 'chatted' with live help and they searched my account and found no returned items or record of prims going away, but they did

over 200 prims, my entire store just gone.

they have no clue why or how they went away.

i rebuilt it over the weekend, but thinks have been wierd lately

lately, no matter what i am doing, i have to create a box and rez stuff onto that to get it out of my inventory. it's a real pain, so now i jsut leave empty boxes all over to make it all quicker.

Does this happen if you try to rez over Linden land ( earth ! )?

Mostly when I have problems rezing .. If I check the surface I fail to rez on it's a mega prim! .. then even rezing a cube to build on can be a challenge .

not as often, but sometimes. actually, the place it never fails is when i go into the client window and eliminate water... i can always rez there. other places, sometimes i get lucky, sometimes not.

never ever could on a mega, though.

50/50 chance on a mega .. usually eliminating the failure modes will give you a sporting chance to see if it's just the sim playing up or the grid.

Colette, I've seen these problems too. Sometimes they're SL's fault, but sometimes...

- are you trying to rez something on a megaprim? Sometimes it doesn't work. I can always rez a cube, though. Rez one, then drag your inventory item onto it, instead of the megaprim.

- Is the prim you're trying to edit part of a linkset? I've been having to unlink prims to move or copy them, Edit Linked Parts isn't good enough. I thought it was just the behavior of the tools, but maybe it's a new "feature" or bug.

I to have pretty much given up building lately.. This past week has just been horrid.. Failure to res, notecards and scripts won't save, textures reverting.. In general all the signs of asset server overload. But this has been going on all week.. And yes across several sims including this empty one I know about, it is for sale, has 3 prims on it and 1 script running, build enabled.. Same issues there, so it has not be sim lag for me..

I have also had a lot of issues with vendors not working, payments timing out, menus responding so slowly that I forgot I had clicked on something to bring it up by the time it shows..

I agree if LL does not address this problem our already shaky economy is going to start to fall apart.. Lets just hope they are on it and working to fix the problem.

I think folks should file support tickets -- LL did acknowledge this (or a similar) problem on the 22nd/23rd, but it is marked resolved:
