It doesn't even matter what it is... that's not the point.
The point is that suddenly I'm "out there" in a way I've never been before, and my bowels are confirming this new and uneasy state.
Anybody remember their first product and how it made them feel?
I look forward to hearing your stories... as soon as I return from the bathroom.

Heh, yeah, I was selling t shirts that I had made before I got into scripting. I was in another sim exploring with a friend, and all of a sudden I get a notice that so and so just paid me $30L. At first, I couldn't figure out why someone paid me out of the blue, then it dawned on me that I'd made a sale. I tp'd home and thanked the guy who was still in my shop, and he was saying he'd be back later when he had more L's, because there were a couple of other shirts he wanted. I was so happy I just gave them to him for nothing because I was so pumped I'd actually made a sale! That was my first vended sale, but I also, prior to that had made $250L modding a script for someone. It was a simple freebie elevator script that you'd chat 'goto 1' or 'goto 2' to move the elevator from floor to floor, and she wanted it modded so that it worked via buttons at the top and bottom of the elevator shaft. I changed the channel that it worked on, and wrote a button script that communicated with the elevator (and the other button). Pretty simple modification, and I didn't even plan to get paid, but when I delivered, she paid me $250L. The very first non camped L$ money I had made.

From: ArchTx Edo Yep, its the first sale that is really exciting. That, and the first time you run into somebody unrelated using/wearing your item. My story is here: http://talirosca.blogspot.com/2008/07/15-minutes-of-obfuscated-fame.htmlIt's a while ago, so some of the links are dead (most notably the OnRez link), and I don't even know if the "featured" place is there anymore, but that's beside the point

I don't sell anything but I remember when Amara first started her store. The first 2 or 3 months, she would all of a sudden get real excited because she had another sale. Now I still know when she has had an extrodinary day for overall sales. But it was a pleasure when that was so new for her and to share in her excitement.

My first income was $L1000 from Tooter Claxton who hired me to write his chatbot script. He hired me for several other projects after that too, but the first one was the best (and I was too new to know how cheap he got off. LOL) Once in a while I still get people looking me up to see if they can buy it. Torley Linden found me and asked for a copy. I was so flattered!
I miss Tooter, he's been gone for some time now, disappeared without a trace. Funny, smart, a fantastic builder, and more creative than anyone I know. No one else like him.

Not to rain on your parade... Iow how long it will take the lab to crack down on people who are profiting off Cameron's movie? Esp considering the lab expressly notes:
"Branded items may be listed or sold only by the brand or intellectual property owner or its authorized agents."

From: Alvaro Zapatero Anybody remember their first product and how it made them feel? the same way it always makes me feel.... disappointed because as soon as it gets sold I realize I could've improved this that and the other... such is the life of a perfectionist tinkerer.

Esp considering the lab expressly notes: They've already done quite a lot of that on anything that directly violates trademark and gets reported. But there are also a number of fandom items that are cleverly named enough to pass the parody test.

I think my first product was my 'midnight skin' freebie.
Was exciting putting it up there, and even more so when people started grabbing copies of it.
I don't have that many products out there, and most of them are freebies. That Midnight black skin still is my best 'seller' - great for drow that want to be black rather than gray and yet still have skin detail (done with midnight blue highlighting).
I didn't see anything like it when I put it out, but now I'm seeing a few 'off color na'vi' skins use a similar technique to get ultra dark without being gray.
Frustratingly, 90% of my copies sell not out of my shop, but out of a freebie store - and few of those people ever use the landmarks in it. The lesson there is that freebies will not give your business any traffic. Don't make them for that purpose - make them for the idea of doing newbies a service or opening up a new angle on the market.

LOL! I know that feeling..... "will people be interested? Will they buy it??" Whats really scary is, when you hit a niche market and soon others take up the call. Makes you feel REALLY good that you started something (stores, malls, groups, clubs, etc).

Well, if they were smart, they'd contact Cameron to see if they could get a blanket approval. You know, like the blanket approval the Coca-Cola company gave. After all, it is free advertising. Then again, this is the same company that removed an item due to a word. Don't recall the word, but I do recall that it had not a thing to do with the IP it was allegedly infringing.

Consie had that happen with the word "converse" as in speak to someone in a sentence she used. She doesnt make sneakers LOL

Congrats. I well remember my first efforts,I made a small bar and put it in my 512 tent for sale.I set it for LS25 and it sold whilst I was out of the store.I shot back and it had gone, puzzled i rezzed another and that one lasted 2 weeks and was gone.In those days you had online help and someone popped over at my request to help me out.I had set the perms wrong ,so I sold 2 original full perm bars LOL. Several months later whilst checking out free yard sales I saw my bar for sale at L$ 50.

The feeling I always get is of wow, they liked my stuff enough to spend their money on it. It is still very exciting Recently I had another Wow! moment when THE Mermaid, as in the Mermaid Diaries, came to my store to shop That was definitely a Wow moment that she had even heard of me. Congrats Alvaro - enjoy annd good luck.
