Hiyaz,

So my best friend just created an account and in RL, she is very short, just under 5' tall... she wants her SL AV to be as close to what she looks like in RL, as possible.

She is currently looking like a tiny little newbie, lol .... anyway, as we were browsing skins for her, they all appeared to be tall. Are there any skins out there for women like her who prefer to be on the short side... or are there any skins out there that would allow her to modify her appearance so she can remain short?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

I am not sure, but skins should gracefully adapt to most if not all avatar sizes. I think.

Guess that as usual some skins will look better than others, so trying the demos is in order. Since your friend is new she's eligible for free (1L$) skins collected on a single pack by Portia Sin (Sin Skins).

Note to other skin makers: this offer for newbies is the only 1 I know, about skins; otherwise I would have named others.

Hi Lauralynne, lovely name

Skins will fit shapes. Where it is required to edit local shape is usually the head but the rest of the body I am certain scales well. Get your friend to pick out one or two demos, usually only a $ each and try.

I'm a shorter non-child/teen avie. At 5'7", I'm usually the shortest avatar in the room. At 5' she's probably going to be mistaken for a child avie most of the time. Make sure she understands if she wants to match her RL height, she should probably add 10% to the "ruler" measurements. Shape is going to be far more important. It took a lot of tweaking to get a shape that looked right in the under 6' range. (I made it, send me an IM if you'd like a copy.) I think that's why everyone is so tall. The shapes just work better at that size.

Nevermore has a line of skins for child/teen avies. They had makeup on and didn't look very childish to me. I don't know what other differences there are based on size or whether it's just a way to sell more skins. But those are high quality skins anyway and might work better for a short avatar.
