Is there any sneaky way, including even using a hex editor, to replace the sun with the moon, and still have it be daytime?
SL, that is, not RL.

I HEREBY ORDER YOU TO STOP COMPLAINING!
Oh wait... (Actually, I have my own self interest in mind because if you replace the sun, there's no more Sunspots.) ![]() _____________________

Sunspot, I don't mean to intrude into your personal matters, but I am curious about something: you periodically generate huge solar flares that disrupt electronic communications on earth and increase the danger of radiation damage to astronauts.
Why? What's in it for you? _____________________

Oh Suezanne I wish you would go back to featuring the BLURRY TEXT problem in your signature!
In working on SL, I hardly look at the sun at all, but I'm ALL THE TIME looking at the dang NOW BLURRY TEXT on the edit box, when you don't have the box highlighted/focused on, as well as within the edit box, when it is focused on, under, for example, textures, where the texture box says - blurrily - "multiple." Now eyesight is a wonderful thing to have, and I very much appreciate mine. Why on earth LL would want to simulate poor eyesight and an inability to focus by purposely making BLURRY TEXT is beyond my comprehension. The ONLY reason I can think of for why this happened was (a) whoever did it has a humongous monitor, and (b) didn't even BEGIN to check what this text looked like in the edit box, or in the world, on various different colored backgrounds, but must have done it on one or two examples, said "cool," and stuck it in. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, LL, GET RID OF THIS BLURRY TEXT!! It's a HORRIBLE thing to do to people, to make what they are looking at look blurry. Horrible and COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY. (Have I stated my case strongly enough, or should I go on?) coco P.S. It's like we had laser eye surgery that went wrong. EXCEPT WE DIDN'T HAVE THE SURGERY! _____________________

Oh Suezanne I wish you would go back to featuring the BLURRY TEXT problem in your signature! I stopped using that sig because of this: This has been fixed internally and is in QA, text for inworld/console/hud objects has been reverted to using the old method. from the thread: /142/58/181583/1.html So it should be restored to its former behavior in fairly short order. In the meantime, I find that using the horrible smokey chat background, while quite repulsive looking, does make the text legible. The smokey background for the chat is called the Chat Console and it's opacity is controlled by a slider on the Chat tab of Preferences, in the middle. T _____________________

We'll just save that post for the next time the text display gets botched up.
This might seem a bit silly, but you can attach a prim as a HUD, set texture to blank, and transparency to 50. Make it go all the way across the screen and high enough to act as a backdrop for as many lines of text as you want to be able to see clearly. Of course you won't want this to go up too far. It beats the moving, shape and size changing chat console backdrops. I just made one at I think I will leave it there. ============================ Now, back to the war against the giant sun! ![]() I might have used the smiley face instead of the green grin face but the smiley face looks too much like, umm, you know. _____________________
