Airline Help Please!

Have you considered paying the fee (I believe it is $150 USD) to move your private sim? Private sims cannot be directly adjacent to each other without the consent of each sim owner. Find a large multi-sim development, and ask if you can be next to it. If you want to go steampunk with your airline, Caledon and Winterfell (Desmond Shang and Serra Anansi) are the masters of the universe. They recently united their two regions, so that open travel was possible between the two. There are many sims there, all as one large private (as opposed to mainland) land mass. Also try Merlin Incanus. His project is Victoriana/Edwardian in style. He's got about 4 or 5 sims, I think. If you don't want to go steampunk Victoriana, look for other multi-sim estates (maybe some of you will speak up here?) that will let you be adjacent to them, with open travel. No names are leaping to my mind, but I know there are plenty out there.

And do keep in mind that most of us pay the fees in order to have the experience of the metaverse. It is rare to earn enough money back to cover your fees from income, unless you really devote yourself to it full-time. I just look at the fees as part of the game, like a subscription. I choose how much I can afford to pay each month, and how much land I can afford to buy. I don't exceed that, with the expectation that it will "pay for itself" as a commercial business. Any income I earn I just look at as an unexpected windfall. If I don't look at it that way, I make myself crazy trying to justify the expenses, and trying to make my holdings revenue producing.

You've got a big dream, and a fun idea, but there are parts of it you probably should have looked into further and experimented with, before buying a sim, so you wouldn't feel this pressure to earn money with it right away. And you really need to explore the mainland a bit, to get a better feel for SL. It's an interesting place. (No criticism intended so please do not take any offense)

BUT Virrginia..............my sweet, u had me ROFL with your reply, really brilliant, u share my wicked sense of humour...!!!! Especially as in the UK, Heathrow airport just opened a huge new terminal called 5...................its supposed to be british airways flagship terminal but its crap at momment , and they have lost thousands of pieces of baggages
plus cancellations, whatever....!!!!!

I do understand that most folk just want to just TP, perhaps to a club meet a friend etc..
mind u how many TPs fail and U crash............ok u may crash with my airline, but at least u will be on the ground, or in the water, gosh hope the sharks are not about lol

But i visit beautiful island group called summer island, its the holiday experiance im offering
So folk can visit the group of islands, it brings in tourists, they spend at clubs, and i have two girls willing to be stewardeses, to meet and greet folk, then they can get flight home after if they wish to buy return ticket......the small prefab terminal would be hidden by foliage and plants so it would not look out of place! But I need to fly in and out from the sea of course, and thats not possible...

please give a me some time to visit these places u have all given me and so many of u have given great replies, and im very grateful.....)

its great that people are not all her just for sex in here ROFL, ok. perhaps i am sometimes!! lol, but in time, the longer your in SL the sex part of it is secondary and creation and other ideals take over....

Wonder if i could borrow (Air force one? ) nah! that wouldnt fit in my SL backyard lol

Hi! Another SL pilot here. I can tell you a lot of us do it because of the fun of crashing and the hilarity involved, not because flying in SL is a really amazing, realistic flight experience. If you've been using flight sims, you are used to a MUCH more advanced and realistic system than you will find here. My first suggestion is to pick up a freebie airplane and fly around on your own for a while - just a one seater biplane or regular plane. Like others have said, you'll never get 50 people on a plane, and if you even get close, all hell is going to break loose when you try to fly. The plane, plus the people on it, with all of their scripted crap and prim shoes and hair. hudder: That first sim crossing is going to be a doozy!

Here's an idea. Why don't you take the property where you have your vacation resort and build a really good, non-flying replica of an airplane. Have people teleport into it and have an employee dressed like a flight attendant greet them and walk them off the plane to a "customs" desk where you can process them through and check them into the hotel. It wouldn't include the whole flight, but it would simulate arriving at your destination in the airplane.

Good idea.. you can do random selections for strip searches... I am sure you can get a couple of perv... ahh, volunteers here to help with those.

I guess the benefit of an SL airline is that you don't have to deal with security.

lol - It was a serious idea. The airline idea the OP had isn't going to work. But the OP can achieve a similar effect with my ides (sort of).

I guess you have not heard of virtual terrorist training camps in sl... Congress was all over it last week.

I know you were serious, it actually was a very good idea for the OP to do what he was thinking... I just think the forums have been way too serious lately..

You know sometimes the quickest mode of transport isn't always the best.

Okay so here in Second Life we can use our mouse to click a point on the map, hit teleport; and whoosh were there (usually). The idea of getting on a plane and flying anywhere..well it's just so much more fun. We all (property owners) have 700 (and a bit) metres of rezzable space above our heads. Imagine we actually had 600 metres and the other 100 metres was used for lateral movement from anywhere on the grid to anywhere else. So..you live on an island or on the mainland..you jump into your Lear Jet/helicopter/stellar plasma-drive (stellar what?)..spiral upward to 650m and off you go to any point on the grid..flying over the void..wonderfull.

The idea of an airline service working here in Second Life..I love it..but sadly doomed to failure..unless the above (or a variation of it) became a reality.

I aplogise for not getting back to my forums , but health and other RL issues have had to be dealt with.

Ok I cracked the method of making the airline world wide at 3am the other morning, much to my partners annoyance.....

I have already reg the name of my airline and group, and bought my first holiday destination land. who amazingly lives in the uk not more than 60 miles from me!

I can outline how it will work now, as i would like poeple who may like the idea to have there own check ins, of course there would be a tier for renting your check in, and u would need to buy your land and have a theme....you can have your own airport, but if u can start in mine, a quicker choice of destinations and traffic would speed the process up.

Ok first u need a main airport base, your hub of operations.

the basis of the operation, is rather like a fly/drive/cruise ship package holiday.

the chosen aircraft is going to be a bell helicopter in red from apolons, I really liked this craft, its slow, so customers can see more. The craft has options u can click on the shell of the craft, it carries about 3-4 passengers. It handles really well, despite SL probs! only needs a heliport! Because you can fly it slow, u have time to turn away from boundarys or sim edges and fly away from posible resident security orbs, within the time given to exit, usually 30 secs as SL guidelines suggests..

Ok folk will go into terminal (sounds of airport crowd loops add to realism! mock up check in desks, just blocks with alloy textures to look like a desk also has by the side of it, the SL free "running fitness treadmill" with clever texturing it can look like a baggage conveyor.

ok in one place of the terminal is "Pick your holiday" or similar.
In front of them is a board with a pic texture of the destination..say palms trees beaches theme park etc. The board tells u about the holiday bla bla!! Underneath it is two boxes.

One box is for one person. the family box is for 2 or more! Inside the box will be a welcome note and how/ what to enjoy. but hidden is a boarding pass, which actually is TP co-ordinates. Once they buy the contents of box about 80L to 200L depending on if they want weekend or weeks hols. they can go in to departure lounge and wait for the next available flight. Of course trade stands will be there a cafe etc.

so once they see the time of next flight out. (digi multi time zone clocks) they can use the TP, ( "if anybody knows how to make an announcement, of a flight departing" audio thingy , let me know i could give u a commision to make em!? before they go, there names are added to the access list on the holiday island, only they can stay on the island, if the TP got stolen or transfered, it cant be used, unless it was bought by the persons who bought the box, that still needs some work???
The TP sends them inside the arrivals terminal at the holiday island, where a member of staff will be waiting to greet them in uniform. like Hi di hi! lol But they go straight onto an escalator which wisks them up to the top of the building. A uniformed pilot will invite them onto the copter for there air tour, i picked a sim that is quite large and has already nice features like tropical fountains and water slides bars made for the public by island land owner...My park will also have a jurrasic park, with real dinos, sounds, walkways steam maybe volcano effects?? bla! bla! the copters make a round trip of island, they have to keep above a certain level, the residents of the islands will not suffer low flying or intrusions..in fact they get a free pass to enjoy facilities. public relations..LOL
the copter wont be going day and night!! Once their tour comes to an end the copter lands at the other helipad, which has a down escalator, they go down than and out into the exit.....of they go to explore the island!!! sunbathe swmming pool with the animated diving board (if you have never seen the animated diving board try to its wicked!!!!) there will be low key club house. perhaps one amusement, say dodgem cars.... theres fishing stations, also small boats to have fun with.Some trade stands for nice beach clothes, whatever. You need one good draw, and thats the jurrasic park or a theme of your choice. be it sci -fi or......if u want to you could give out LMs to nearby regions/sims that have other attrtactions like a mature place for a bit of adult activity. My islands will be strictly PG, no nudes or open sex in public. cuddling.smooches/fumbling fine on sun loungers etc as long as there clothed. in time u could add another destination for another holiday thus expanding your airline, Initiallly its going to be expensive obviously. They have to abide by rules that means no nudes/rudeness or other antisocial stuff, and no sniffing around residents properties, two warnings, if they dont heed, there holiday is cancelled end of story!

OMg I crashed will I lose my holiday?! NO, your boarding pass is valid for the time u bought it for, u can return at anytime, but only through the TP land mark in the terminal.. you have, no LM will be allowed to be made anywhere. At the end of hols there taken off the land access list....finer points have still to be addressed, but I have recieved 6000L in investments/donations...soon I will be looking for staff, free uniform , small pay at first, work in the sun, enjoy facilities, look after patrons...etc etc. well im off to do RL stuff now, going to practice pin point landings in my bell today, get used to flying it, so folks dont get sicky lolol. if anybody wants to be lifetime member or get involved in some way, even if its a small donation, a pilot etc....send me a note card with your ideas or talents, wont be up and running for a while, new project like this may take sometime to build!
