As for setting up a satellite point on PG land, I have had the 16m that Desmond so kindly gave me to use for what, over a week now?

It helps a little, but not enough. I figured out today that is probably because it has a traffic of 4.

Well that sucks and I'm sorry to hear it. I appreciate the input you gave me in developing my business model to address the problem. But it sounds like it wouldn't be effective anyway? Perhaps I'll recruit someone to try it out, but if I end up rejoining all my land again it's no big deal.

Sadly the complete lack of any response from LL for another, unrelated problem (where I'm actually trying to give them money!) has convinced me not to invest too much in anything at this time. At the very least if I tier down I'll have some of that highly desirable PG land to unload.

They weren't here during the days of first land and higher account stipends that made being premium worthwhile.

Too bad they can't read this first. One of the tasks in the new member exercises on Orientation Island clearly states that First Land can still be purchased.

And that's it for me: No more complaining about LL. I'm just going to go about helping others without risking too much myself.

I do not - absolutely do NOT - consider it sanitizing.
.

Didnt mean to apply you considered it sanitizing Coco -

I was saying that I do.

Sorry if I was confusing.

I think if Linden Labs were really concerned about database load theyd kill the traffic number and shut off the reason for camping.

I think Brining PG secondlife as a kindler gentler, teen freindly place is on the eventual agenda.

I'm finding it very distressing that The Providers seem to be catering to the RL businesses and giving the finger to mny of the resident businesses that are responsible for getting SL into the position to be of interest to the Big boys in the first place. My observations over the 4 months I've been here is that Ll is like an absent minded professor. Sl is a brilliant idea, and even with the technical bugs it is being implemented pretty well. But they are absolutely clueless in the areas of customer relations and sevice. And that will be a shame. People like me, who have little interest in what IBM or Toyota have to say here, will not stay around if the truly remarkable resident businesses are forced out. I'm averaging about $100 USD a month spent in SL. Not a big nimber, but how many other residents also feel the same...it could add up.

OK, I've stopped subdividing my land any further.

I'm going to give it a little while longer, before I put any more for sale, for them to institute this new plan that will allow us to be contained in Search Places as long as we don't have mature content on our land. Some people have told me that they really are going to do that.

I guess I am one of the few that likes the change in the default. It makes sense. Every other website I have ever been do has the "safe filter" or whatever they have turned on by default. You want it off? Click a button and it is off. Why would LL take a different stance on it? Maybe with this we will see an increase in PG areas of land. Is having more PG land a bad thing? I don't think so. I would rather enjoy having areas of the grid where I wouldn't have to worry about mature content. I am sorry that you have had a drop in sales, but this is just one in a long line of changes that have occurred. Telehubs anyone?

Because from what Torley is saying, I fear that they may be planning to hide the Classified ads on mature land, as well - regardless of their content?
Torley is quite clearly pointing out that the "Mature Content" checkbox in About Land / Options is currently non-functional, hence the "make it do something or do we remove it?" internal issue.

What she said has absolutely nothing to do with Classifieds.

And I can say, for those who want to turn off all regions labeled mature (whether or not there are actually any parcels within them with mature content), those people can choose to select "show no mature sims."

It's the default to the other way I'm objecting to, which cuts off huge swaths of perfectly PG content. I'm not objecting to the existance of the ability to turn off mature sims.

Let's hope they fix this by letting us denote our CONTENT as non-mature, just as we can do in Classifieds.

One solution.

One possibility to get your shop listed in a PG places search is to take out a shop in a PG mall. I've created one where each shop is its own parcel -- so you can set the parcel name and parcel description appropriately, and have it show up in a PG places search. Build a small display of sale items, and stick in a landmark giver for your main store.

This is already dangerously close to an advertisement, so I won't put in the location. IM me in world if you are interested in this.

Show mature was always defaulted to unchecked on fresh installs of SL. I think the change is that for some reason now it resets on updates, or else they changed that old way to mature default but I am *positive* that I had to personally go in and check "show mature" in searches after installing SL over a year ago.

Coco-
a 16m2 parcel, won't help at all except for people searching for coco's cottages and finding it in search.

a 1024 or 2048 maybe in a PG area somewhere should be enough.

I'm just trying to suggest positive ways to work ahead with the change. I don't have my own store at my home, I never have. I did really well from a 512m2 plot in a new PG sim (relatively speaking) just by putting sales boxes into a single small house with a sign outside and a search/classified. It's all possible. That's what a satellite store is to me. A proper little 512-1024 with a few things on display/sale and a landmark giver to your main store.

"Don't let the bastards grind you down."
