Why not start some kind of group or movement with the charter of: "Any real world corporation which sets up shop inside Second Life, will NEVER AGAIN be used by the members of this group inside or OUTSIDE Second Life." Make it clear that we do not want them here (for those of us who don't) and make it clear that those RL corporations who set up shop here will go on our black list never to be used by us in RL again. If the group grows large enough, I feel that could help counter the corporate takeover of SL by all these greedy corporations who all want to be "first" to go virtual at the expense of the ones they are trying to impress. It is time for someone to go live with a cloan of SL which restricts RL corporations from entering the market. I'd be there in a second. The mega billions of real world corporations will only kill the virtual economy of SL anyway. One day I invision a SL full of corporations with no avatars to be found. I envision the same thing, unfortunately. Even without formalizing it like that, with a group or anything, I can tell you that my experience with SOME of these corporations has pretty much soured me against using them for anything in real life. I went to the sim in question here tonight and was treated abominably because I'm friends with someone they don't like. Someone needs to let CB know what is going on. coco _____________________

After visiting and asking questions, I now feel good about this venture of theirs. It will add value to newbs looking for "firstland" or just a rental. The rental houses are more than what a new resident would need at first. They are being guided by some individuals who are very knowledgable about the land business in SL. This little advertising campaign may actually create more premium accounts for LL. I think something can be learned from what they have set up and maybe emulated by others in the future for those that are inclined to do so.

I was offended by the assertion that SL people were lonely in between casino and sex club hopping. I have more friends here than I have ever had in RL and while I'm not Miss Popularity, I'm not a hermit by any stretch of the imagination. I just enjoy SL. Maybe its just me, but I see alot of people making friends here that have nothing to do with casinos or sex clubs.
What would be the point of owning a home in a suburb remake anyway? As someone getting a degree in geography in June, I can tell you. SL mainland follows an urban pattern of developement. If you don't like urban, the private islands are for you. SL mainland being transformed into suburbia won't work. The publicity might get RL buyers attention. |

Easy now.. I don't think Nexus and Adam and even Ansche are exactly the folks they're referring to here. In a sense, CB is getting into the same business they are.. The reference to land barons would be Elanthius (no offense) and others who have contributed to the relatively high cost of land, purely because there is currently a profit to be made within the current system. They're simply saying that they are attempting to level the playing field a bit. No sale. They said what they said in that press release. And no sale on going to see it either, if that's how they treat people there. coco _____________________
