Estabane, my congratulations on your courage at bringing up SL's version of the Emperor's New Clothes. If you want to have some fun read the posts on griefing/violence/rudeness. People are very careful when discussing or expressing agression and on SL at least, defensive to the point of feckless when expressing anything having to do with sex.

The problem is not that naked pixels are salacious, but that so much fake flesh and so much pressure on females to look "hot" (and maybe on males to look hot though to me most of the hot ones look scruffy) creates a hostile environment. Yes, it has a name.

The result of this environment is that most of the nonprofits and businesses are on private islands away from the mainland where those who come for "work related purposes" will not walk over the Pots Boiling Over Flesh and Skin Emporium or Ms. Medusa Hair with a Shelf in Front of her and nearly nothing covering it up. This means that most of the conservative environments are not reachable by walking around the mainland.

Second Life could easily have run with different mores. There is nothing to keep modest dress from being the norm. It just never became the norm. There was nothing except leadership that stopped pornography (Yes, you'll see either clips or sex poses) from being only sold behind solid walls. This prevents those who don't want to look from stumbling over it.

But the damage is done so the rest is up to you:

1) You can lead by example. Clothe your avie modestly. I do that myself. It is hard to find nice, conservative and feminine blouses or tankinis for swimming. There are plenty of t-shirts, but sometimes I want something more feminine and dressier. You may well end up learning to make your own clothes. I'm not sure there's a market for conservative garb, but you can always find out. Second Life is not as big as it looks.

2) Seek out conservative areas. Search NMC, Texas San Marcos, Texas Women's University, SUNY for academic islands. NMC provides a small and very quiet sandbox. Eternal Creations is a Christian sim with freebies and an excellent sandbox. Reuters has an interesting build. I think you get the idea.

Remember SL is NOT VERY BIG. There are 40,000 -- 60,000 users on at any one time and of those probably half or fewer are on daily. Small towns develop odd ways.

In the past 2 years that i am here, has SL changed a lot and more and more "normal" ppl are living here now. SL is not the Sexgame anymore that it was in the last year. It is a long time ago, that I saw a stupid naked ava running around in the public. In our shop we sell the more modestly clothing and we get a lot of nice feedback for that.
@Estebane find the right places here and you will have a lot of fun in SL, even if it is not the same kind of fun of many of the other here.
