Hi, I wonder why I can't use SLURLs in Firefox (2.0.0.3 under Windows XP Home SP2). They work in IE, but I hate IE. In Firefox when I click on a SLURL teleport link, nothing happens. Firefox 2.0 won't even load the map images for me, which 1.9 still did. Any ideas?

Got the same problem. Before the last Firefox update I could load the map images, now it just refuses to do anything.

Occasionally, it would TP me before, provided I was already in SL, but it was very hit and miss.

Hmm, I use 2.0.0.3 and slurl works fine for me.

If it never works at all, might be a corrupted registry setting. See this thread for a fix:

Or.. do you have the adblocker extension for Firefox? I had to get it to allow Second Life before it would work for me. Believe me, I hate IE too. Firefox is so much more friendly and not so friendly to hijackers.

Okay, thanks for all the hints. I've tried the registry patch mentioned in that thread Peekay was quoting, but it didn't help. Also, I'm not aware that I'm running any extensions with my Firefox. What could I try next?

Okay, after giving up initially I made a new attempt to solve the problem and was successful in finding an answer this time. Here it is in case anyone is having the same problem:

Type "about:config" in the address bar

Filter for "secondlife"

You'll probably find an entry "network.protocol-handler.external.secondlife" with a value of "false". Right-click and reset that entry.

That's it. Next time you click on a SLurl, you'll be prompted to launch SL. Check "Remember my choice" and click "Launch application". After that, SLurls will be working smoothly.
