1. I'm spending a lot less time in SL lately, but that's mostly due to a) my desktop broke and I still haven't replaced it, and SL runs like a dog on my old laptop, and b) I'm moving soon, so that's occupying a lot of my attention.
2. Well I wouldn't exactly describe my experience with the term "novelty," but I'm still pretty jazzed about the fact that SL even exists, so no the novelty (answering on your terms) hasn't worn off for me.
3. I don't think these things are a fad. I mean, it's possible SL is a fad much in the way that VR was a fad back in the nineties (aren't we all supposed to be wearing headsets to immerse ourselves in TV?) but the general notion of online 3D communities is one that I feel will have a strong grip on society. Then again, I've devoted most of my life since college to virtual reality development, so I guess I'm biased.
