style+price= got my lindens also, the smoothness of the shoppin experience, if you are on a super laggy sim chances are i won't be back, ok if i like what You have ill be back, just at like 3 am . i tend to wear more, casual classics(1800betties) and jeans n tees(although i do have a few trampy outfits), girly, i reserve for those club nights when its formal.

There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

Malls are an excellent way to familiarize members with your name and product, especially near proven and successful businesses. Not that I am biased or anything...

Here's a pet peeve, not directly related to the clothing: primmy bags to open after your purchase. When all I had was a 512m lot, I didn't have an extra 10 prims to rez the shopping bag just so I could get the clothes out. Yes, the bags are cute & I do appreciate those little touches, but I throw them out afterwards anyway. You probably should keep it to 3 or 4 prims, max. Or, as someone already suggested, use a short 'auto-return' in your store rather than 'no-build'.
A just a comment about clothes: much like real life, in SL I have an awful time finding clothes that fit. Why is that? Because I didn't give myself huge boobs or a completely flat butt. Please realize those prim skirts are impossible to adjust sometimes for women that have something on the butt size slider greater than 10. If you make those kinds of skirts, maybe you could consider selling different sizes--I'm not talking about anything complicated, just maybe for "0-20', '21-50', '>50' slider sizes?
Finally, someone else mentioned how important texture matching is--there's nothing worse than having an outfit where the same exact texture is on the clothing mesh as the prim parts & they simply don't look the same. Make sure your textures match or complement, and the one on the mesh just doesn't look like a pale fade of the one on the prim.

Q: What do you look for in SL clothing? What makes it worth spending Lindens on?
A: Flexi, unique, various colour options for a style (although I'm a monochrome girl I suspect others like colours), lots of pieces, pieces properly made (i.e. can't stand jackets made as shirts -- what if I want to wear a shirt beneath a jacket I buy elsewhere), underwear a good thing with an ensemble.
Q: How do you find places to shop at? Word of mouth? Classifieds? Wandering in "mall" areas?
A: The forums -- I religiously check what's new in the shopping area. If I like the styling of one item, I'll go to the shop in world. I'll SEARCH on SLX and in world based on some key words -- but not often.
Q: What makes a shop a pleasant place to visit for you?
A: Lots of room, good displays, no clutter, signage, good organization.
Q: Do you join Groups for specific shops or clothing lines? How often do you hear from them? How often do you WANT to hear from them?
A: Yes, if I like the clothes, joining Groups is good. If I buy something I like from somewhere, I return intermittently to see what's new. Some Groups blast notices a couple times per week, others hardly ever. I don't mind. Once per week is good.
Q: What's the optimal interface for buying clothes? What information do you want on the vendor to help you make a decision?
A: single prim poster board. Number of pieces, what pieces, cost, maybe extra information (i.e. mix and match with This Item etc.)
Q: Is there anything that certain clothing designers do that you wish more people would do? (Somebody suggested putting a texture in the folder with the outfit that shows what the outfit looks like--which comes in handy when one is trying to remember which dress is in what folder!)
A: Image of outfit great idea. LM to store. Newbie notecard to help them out (how to wear, take off etc.). Notecard to advertise where the model acquired other aspects (i.e. shoes -- seldom do shoes come with outfits, but the model will be wearing a great pair of shoes or hair or something, and it'd be helpful to know where it came from in case it appeals).
Q: Are there any suggestions you might have for someone just starting out in the SL clothing business?
A: customer service.
Good luck!
