I have to actually agree here.. The option in permissions says "Transfer/Resell" for a reason. If I get an object for a low prce, and can manage to resell it for a higher price.. then that's called capitalism.

BS. If you weren't trying to scam someone out of their money by selling them something that cost you nothing you'd just tell them where to go to get one for free themselves. Most people, myself included, take a very dim view of that kind of predatory behavior.

It is unfortunate that way back when, LL encouraged people to give them items to use as freebies, while at the same time asking them not to sell them, and yet not making them so they couldn't be sold. That wasn't smart!!!!

However, that was also way back when.

Nowadays, if you don't want someone selling copies of your item, mark it no-transfer. Or, if you don't mind them selling the one copy, mark it no-copy/transfer.

If you mark it transfer, they may sell it for whatever they like, whether for profit or at a loss.

I'm not real crazy about people selling freebies either. But I really don't think you can hark back to something strange that happened long ago and expect people to act accordingly.

Funny and ironic Usagi... I view your posts being the same way you think mine always are.

When I post, I'm rarely arguing, and I don't have to be on a 'side'
I have my opinions on certain matters and I post them.

Usagi, just reread my post, there's no two-sided swaying im doin in my thoughts.. its quite clear

My stance on this issue: It's fine by me for people to sell freebees. I don't really care. And I don't really get why other people care. It seems that the people upset by people selling freebees are not the creators of the items.. but rather just petty people that are bugged that someone else is making money in SL. It's such a tiny bit of change that everyone's arguing about. $20L $50L $100L.... it's cents. Who friggin cares

Well love talking with two faces seems to be a fav past time of yours.........

Anyways people selling freebies does show how low people go to get money in this game.......Look around you and see how mnay freebie clubs are not charging ONE LINDEN for those same items love........Sorry but people should really put a 0L on the boxs. If those same people that are selling freebies really need to sell freebies then well........maybe the4y should buy money

I still wish there was one more permission bit in SL.

Call it the Next Owner has "Limited Production Rights".

Someone receiving a "limited production rights" item can
sell or give away versions that are either COPY or TRANS
(but not both!).

LPR would be settable by creator... and only effective for
people that receive the LPR item from it's creator.

There are many things in the world that people would like
to incorporate into products for resale... and very FEW
creators trust people with copy+trans versions of their
better works.

Limited Production Rights could help creators safely lower
their guard a bit, making them more willing to collaborate.
