there are lots of accounts created by people under 25, but they don't spend as much time in-world (on average) as the older residents.


Us old people need a second life more than those kids do. Get off our lawn! :D

Also by now we are experienced enough to know that RL generally sucks!

When you are younger, you still believe that the world is waiting for the wonderfulness of you to come along. When you mature, you learn that you have to protect that wonderfulness from the world and isn't SL a great place to express that part!

Well, I'll fes up,, 61 here, feel 18 some days, and 161 on others! :-)

I would love to know the oldest "currently active on SL" I know what there are some older registered people, but, are they active?

Oh well,,, I enjoy it, being an old old time computer and online person it is a hoot!

However!! Since my stroke 4 years ago, I basically had to start over with computers. That is one part of the brain that got wiped out. :-( Some of it came back, but not enough to be real comfortable.

Well one thought is that if you're a guy I suppose having a mid-life crisis is cheaper in SL than RL! The cost of a Porsche, getting hair plugs, gym membership, paying for your new blond (and young) girlfriend's breast implants...it all adds up!

Its great to see so many older people in SL, many of a certain age haven't got a clue what button turns a computer on, let alone live a virtual life. I do feel that most of us in the forums are of an age where we care to share our experiences and the younger residents don't even know the forums exist.

I'm 34 btw :-p

I'm thinking we might be seeing a trend. =)25-30 here, although I regularly remind my mother that she's soon to be OLD because her first born will be 30 haha.

Honestly has anyone ever considered that statistics similar to these and the "in world time" skew might account for some of the peculiar fashion leaps? I admit I thought it was odd that vintage fashions sold so well in SL since I had a mental picture of a much younger user base and, lets be serious shall we, teenagers who find vintage "cool" and think bling sucks (a growing sentiment, especially from the more heavy users) aren't the norm.

Which suits me just fine, tyvm.

Last time I looked, LL overall ages clustered around 30 or so. The forum crowd is a fair bit older then if not necessarily wiser - or in some cases , more mature.

Very true, this is only an indication of who actually takes the time to read the forums, not the user base in general.

No, I think we can conclude that the *cough* mature *cough* residents are gainfully employed at places where they are bored and have internet access at their desks. Notice how forum traffic peaks during normal USA business hours M-F?

40-50 is in 10-year block, not broken down into 5-year blocks like 20s and 30s.

Yeah, which basically means you have to either add the other together, or seperate, easier to just add;

30-40 is 81, making it a pretty close run thing. 20-30 is just 56, which is lower. I know there are a lot of younger people, but I've seen a few things that show as a general rule SL's demographic tends to be anywhere from 25 on up, as the people most interested in it. Younger people tend to be more interested in killing things? o.O
