I love the clothes at Nyte'n'Day. I haven't yet found any other clothing designer whose work I would want to wear. Who else makes clothes of that quality? I like Nyte'n'Day's clothes because they are somewhat realistic and the style is timeless: tailored blazers and vests, pleated skirts. I'm looking for attractive well tailored "street clothes".

Thanks.

Funny thing, I was Just reading my Local Paper, (The Vancouver Sun) and in the West Coast Section (Pages B-1 and B-6) is an article about a Fashion designer from the Vancouver area (Surrey) who is Importing her RL fashions into SL. Her Name In Game is Nyla (No last name Given) But her Business is Called "House of Nyla" Do a search, her stuff looks good.

I like the clothes at Pixel Dolls. There also is a sale, I believe, for a short while longer.

This shop will bankrupt me. The sale hasn't helped - it just means the uncontrolable shopper in me feels justified in buying twice as much.

I personally like some of the clothes from Image Reflections, but most of what I have came from Nyte N Day.

I love Nonna Hedges clothes but she is high priced. Also NanoGunk Wild Wear is great [shameless plug] and very reasonable for edgy designs like cat suits and Neko wear. My .02 Lindens

How about a store that has some basic, "Girl next door" styles and possibly some outfits from the 50's.

(Thanks for the recommendation, Isablan! :D )

I also really love the styles of Antonia Marat from Artilleri, Cammie Cooper, Kimberly Casanova... Very nicely done retro and girl-next-door styles, which are my personal weakness.

Finding normal but stylish clothing in SL is a bit of a task since a lot of designers tend to design for their fantasy-selves or the fantasy of their customers. (Which is probably the biggest selling industry in SL, so I can't blame them.) But keep looking, because it seems to me that realistic clothing from rockabilly-retro to business-chic is coming more and more into focus, as opposed to the usual "slut-wear" "club-wear" and "goth-wear" that's been prevelant for a long, long time.

Check the New Products forums, mainly, and secondary the plethora of popular blogs around to see who may be coming out with styles you'd like to see more of. And if you DO see something you like from someone, I strongly recommend dropping them a note and letting them know what you'd like to see more of. Many of my items come from customer suggestions, so I'm sure others may take customer suggestions to heart as well.

Good luck!

(And Happy Halloween!)

Great advice.

Being new, I'm hoping that I can eventually find some 50' & early 60's style dancing events. I love that music. Original Rock & Roll!!! Especially Jitter bug and Lindy dancing. That's why I want to find some 50's style outfits.

If you do find some, please let me know! DJ Miggy (Aeguvas Ritter) holds a casual DJ event every friday night at 7pm SL-time, and he plays a wide variety of styles, and I've uploaded enough rockabilly music to him to more than handle rockabilly/psychobilly/50s requests. (Poor Miggy :D ) Walter Night was also hosting some great rockabilly DJ shows on Wednesday afternoons, though my schedule changed and I haven't been able to attend in a long time, so those may have changed. Both shows were casual and great fun, so checking with the DJs might be worthwhile.

Oh! and if you're looking for a good rockabilly/psychobilly/hillbilly/neo-swing station to play for yourself, you can listen to or stream to Tokyo Ninja Radio at: http://211.9.44.188:8020

It's what I play on my own land, and I love it.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Can't wait to get home and go shopping :) I am always looking for places that sell quality "non-slut" wear, just normal people clothes. I have lots of Little Rebel hanging in my SL closet but have been looking for some decent, well made flexi skirts lately and can't find any at Little Rebel.

As for the music, I'm not especially looking for rockabilly but would love to find someplace that plays good 50's, 60's and early 70's classic rock.

This is soooo much fun. I bought an outfit at pixel doll i really like that is a totally different style from nyte'n'day. Nyla has pricey party dresses which I'm not looking for but very much worth a look. Very high quality, very inspiring. She has photos of rl models wearing the real clothes next to the images of the sl version. Way cool.

I do understand the appeal of slutwear, wearing things you wouldn't wear in rl, but it has no appeal for me. My rl boyfriend is not into computers. I have no interest is sl cybersex. I have no-one to dress up slutty for. I want great looking clothes i can wear to a group meetings or classes.

And now I have a growig list of shops to check out for hours of fun. Thanks to all.

Absolutely, my shop is not the place to go for prim skirts and/or flex skirts. I've made some flex/prim scarves, and that's probably the only prim-work I'll do for quite a while. I don't like working with prims, I don't like the way they cut into the avatar, and I hate the way flex prims look as if they're always moving in slow motion. When SL is better with flex prims, and more prim shapes and options are offered, I'll work in some, but until then, I won't force it. I don't buy them or wear them, so I don't feel inclined to make them. (I think they're ugly and clumbsy, to be blunt.)

Edited to add: That's my personal opinion, obviously. Some people love flexi-prim skirts, and I'm sure they can find plenty available.

Yay! Very glad to see you're still up and running! I loved the shows I was able to make it to, and hope to attend many more. I not only heard stuff I already loved, but was even introduced to a few new artists, which is rare in such a tight musical genre. Excellent, excellent shows!

(Really not trying to derail the original thread here, just hoping to expand on at least 1 poster's desires. Sorry if it's too distracting!)
