Who remembers 'head up the butt' sndrome circa 2006-2007?
It's back.....

While vacationing in the North of France, I stopped at a small rocky island. Every square inch, it seemed, covered with rock, building.

While parking in the large parking area, I heard over the radio something about missing women. The story appeared to be taking place far away, certainly not in France. So I shut off the radio and proceeded to explore this massive pile of rock.


Imagine my surprise when I later went through my photos of the trip and spotted a van that looked exactly like the one reported in the story. A white van of otherwise no significant markings. I mean, what were the odds I'd run across a white van! While in Mont Saint-Michel. Clearly I had been near the van of the kidnappers. I shudder, now, as I think of how close I was to meeting the same fate.

I tremble as I recall, now, how I blatently violated the rules, gone where I should not have gone, climbed over the small thin rope barrier that blocked the upper levels.


Hours after my arrival at this forbidding site, I had climbed to the very top of the tower, passing through even more small rope barriers along the way. Looked around, got my picture taken by an agreeble bird, and wandered back down.


I recall, vaguely, thinking of that story I had heard while skipping and hopping back down from the tippy top of that tower, and wondering about why such a far off kidnapping was being aired right then and there over a French radio station. While so distracted, I ran into a rather large, hairy, though kind, man who immediately aplogized for standing in my way, and offered to take my picture. While standing posed for the shot, I recall glimpsing, barely, out of the corner of my eye, a small rag hanging out of his back pocket, and a suspicious bulge in his coat, vaguely outlining a bottle of some type, a small eye-drop like bottle. I recall, now, that I had leaned forward a little, looking closer at this stranger, and then, yes, my eyes widening as I also detected traces of a rope like substance on his clothing. Blinded by a flash, I blinked. When I could see again, the man had disappeared, leaving in his place my camera.



I tremble and shake as I realize how close I came to joining those poor drugged, stripped, kidnapped women, whose names were withheld from the public. Though I have heard whispers that one of the women was a noted private investigator named Barbara. Or was it Brenda? Alas, I forget, now. I'm sure it doesn't matter.
