Well...........

actually a 5-day weekend. I ended up with a couple of morning and afternoon doctor appts on Monday and rather than pop in and out of the office every few hours, I decided to take the day as a vacation day.

ooh, even better! :)

My funny story of the first time I saw butter from a mold:

I was on my first fancy date and in my very first fancy restaurant. The super fancy waiter dude came and put a couple of pats of butter on my bread plate. They were molded into the shape of roses. I had never seen molded butter. I HAD had candies shaped like that at a wedding once. So.....

I promptly picked one up and popped it into my mouth.

My date was polite enough to cover his mouth and not fall on the floor when he started chuckling.

:o

LOL gross and funny. did you swallow it?

Interesting factoid (I have no idea if it's true)

During the initial space flights, NASA discovered that biro (ballpoint) pens didn’t work under zero gravity conditions. To beat the problem, NASA spent 6 years and $2 million in designing a pen for use in space. The pen would work under zero gravity conditions; due to the pressurized ink inside, it would work under sub zero conditions, underwater, on glass and virtually any surface known to man.

The Russians used a pencil.

I just about gagged, and then politely spit it into my napkin and asked the fancy penguin for a new napkin.

I checked -- it is totally true.

ETA: The part about NASA developing a special Space Pen is true anyway and the part about the 6 years and 2 million *might* be true (I could not find info on that) -- however, from wiki:

"There exists a common urban legend claiming that the Americans spent $11 million developing the Space Pen, and the Russians used a pencil.[1] In fact, NASA programs have used pencils (for example a 1965 order of mechanical pencils[1]) but because of the danger that a broken-off pencil tip poses in zero gravity and the inflammable nature of the wood present in pencils[1] a better solution was needed.

NASA never approached Paul Fisher to develop a pen, nor did Fisher receive any government funding for the pen's development. Fisher invented it independently, and then asked NASA to try it. After the introduction of the AG7 Space Pen, both the American and Soviet (later Russian) space agencies adopted it. Previously both the Russian and American astronauts used grease pencils and plastic slates.[2]"

Aes.. a new browser wouldn't help my crashing...specifically I kept burying the nose of my chopper into solid objects like the ground!

I have a freebie motorcycle that is very hard to keep on the road, despite my best efforts. I asked a biker for help, and he said, "Try my bike." It was so much easier to handle, he had to IM me to bring it back.

So, not to spoil your fun, but if you want to have a good chopper (of either kind), you might have to buy one.

Oooohhh, I remember this from last year. I got super lucky and found a bandana that matched an outfit that I had picked up a few months before -- and not by the same creator:

I am so jealous. - very very HAWT.

/me notes to find the bikini when I get inworld later (and any other patriotic outfit in inventory).
I've just been cruising the blogs (that sounds *so* wrong) and if any of you ladies are taking July 4th pictures, there are several free July 4th-themed styles at Bewitched Hair and House of Heart. They look to be mainly colour-related (red, white and blue) but one of the styles has a cowboy hat with a Star Spangled Banner badge on it. I don't know if anyone wants to get them, but I thought I'd mention them :)
