That definitely doesn't belong on a pizza.

Mornin, thread!

Yesterday, I became a gridnaut. I finally got added to the list and groups, downloaded the open sim client, and gave it a try.

I started on some sorta familiar ground: my workshops in Livingtree, but the version of them on the beta grid:

http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/Upload.aspx?id=311

From there, it was onto Vaak, featured in Torley's gridnaut video:

http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/upload.aspx?id=312

And then, the big jump to Interop Island:

http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/upload.aspx?id=313

Finally, back to Terra Firma, er, the Main Grid. I had important work to do. I hadda get my gridnaut bear!

That’s the beauty of pizza. As long as there’s dough and sauce. Anything goes :)

yum yum yum

Oh, and my chicken pizza had pesto on it, too. And capers.

Many years back I lived in Aberdeen. The kids were still very young at that point and very excited when a Pizza Inn opened in Aberdeen. (Could have been Pizza Hut or some other American brand name. Mass quantities of British pints have clouded some of those memories).

Anyway, we all rushed off to try out the new pizza place. The kids are grown now but still laugh about the fact that one of the standard ingrediants on their pizza was corn.

Oh well, to each his own.

oh, and here's the report from CX:

From: someone
I am working at the local training center near my home. It has generator power and 4 T-1 lines for access to the world.

We have power, but no Internet and no land line telephones. Much of Louisiana is still without power. 13 of 14 main transmission lines are down. Of course in the path of the storm there is complete devastation. We were 150 miles from landfall and still showed signs of damage over a wide area. I only lost some tree limbs and I have a yard full of mistletoe that blew out of the tree tops.

Hurricane Gustav
09-03-2008 07:29
03 SEPT 2008 09:12AM Local Time

My family and I are safe and well after Hurricane Gustav. Power was restored last night and we still do not have Internet or Land Line phone service. Cell phone service is intermitten at best. I have been in contact with Allegria, Maureen, Amara and Elora. (because they shared their email addresses with me). We had only tree damage to report on my property. I am currently at one of our remote training centers some 60 miles north of New Orleans and about 8 miles from my home. The training center is self sustaining with generators, satelelite links and four T-1 phone lines.

Hurricane Gustav came ashore in Cocodrie LA about 86 miles SW of New Orleans and 150 miles south of my home. It was down graded to CAT 2 with sustained winds of 110 mph. It continued to the northwest at 15 mph. The areas in the direct path of the storm are totally devastated. Thirteen of the fourteen main electrical transmission lines for Louisiana were damaged or destroyed. Flooding of low lying areas occured but no major flooding of New Orleans or area protected by flood walls. Some barges broke loose and damaged a flood wall on the Industrial Canal on the West Bank of the MS. River. (south of New Orleans)

New Orleans is currently closed to all residents and people are only allowed to pass through the city on I-10. Power and water is not expected to return for 7 to 14 days. Power outages are wide spread and may be as much as 30 days before full service is restored.

I currently have no access to SL and limited access to the WWW.

Good morning, Mari.
Did you ever feel that linden bears are like pokemon?
Gotta catch 'em all!

I do feel like that! Sadly, I definitely have enough now that is is more "obsession" than "hobby." I did a quick and rough count of my Linden bears, and have over 250 of the things in my inventory. I need an island to actually rez them all -- not enough prims on an open space!

...and yes, I know there's some I don't have. Everett Linden's, for example...
