From: Macphisto Angelus I will sit here and hate those cable bastiges with you. They keep trying to tell me it's my hardware, even though the modem, splitter, and cables have all been changed out. My TV is fine, so the basic signal is apparently getting into the house, and my Internet connection seems to be fairly stable in the morning and late at night - not hours that work well for me. I had the same problem last summer, changed none of the hardware, and it cleared up on its own after 6 or 8 weeks and worked properly for the next 9 months, which really makes me think they're jacking around with something.

Comcast? I went through this when Comcast first offered broadband here. They swore it was me. I lost it about the same time everyday for about the same amount of time. It lasted a couple months and at the time I didn't have an option for DSL.. they were it. Finally it just stopped. I didn't change anything.. It took me over a year to go back to Comcast once I went to DSL.

From: Ann Launay Bresnan I think they're all the same though. Likely. I don't know what is happening or what happened to me but I blamed it on saving bandwidth. That was the best I could come up with to lay the blame with an ounce of logic.

From: Oryx Tempel Damned dogs. They were just protecting you! Give them kisses for me and stop kicking them off the bed. OK. I'm pretty sure they were getting ready to eat a burglar. I told them to shut the hell up, and they were like..."huh? Wha...Are we disturbing you with our 2:00 am barking?" I threatened to sell them for medical experimentation and they quieted right down. Problem solved.

From: Brenda Connolly I am so grateful I don't have Comcast, I've heard so many horror stories about them. I used to cuss them up one side and down the other when I was having issues. Since going back a couple months ago I am in a dream land. Around here high speed options are Comcast and AT&T. I live *just* on the cusp of where you can get AT&T so downloads were slow. With that new speed boost in Comcast I am downloading stuff at around 11mps and better. No disconnects (except a weird IE7 issue.. but I use Firefox anyway) and surfing the net is a joy. Now they will bork up since I said kind things about them.

Now they will bork up since I said kind things about them. Cablevision is pushing a Speed Boost package but I don't really see a need for it for me. I'm happy with my regular setup. The Verizon people were canvassing in the neighborhood the other day for FIOS, but again, I don't see any reason to change. As my Cable/ISP Cablevision is wonderful. As the owners of the Knicks and Rangers, I wish them slow and painful deaths....

I suppose bandwidth could be the issue...last year, though, the problem didn't start until August and stopped sometime in September. This year it was June, growing steadily worse over time, and I sometimes get several days in a row where it never goes down. They keep showing these ads on TV too which make me want to stab someone..."Now, even more reliable!"

Hi Midnight, Hi Rob. Wow that was a bit of a shock to my system. From: Ann Launay Bresnan
I think they're all the same though. I don't know you're all making me feel pretty good about Cox. It does mysteriously go out now and then but hardly ever for long. And when it's up it works great even when there are several of us on the router.
