Everytime I try to log in to Jira or even go to a Jira link someone has posted, I get "page cannot be displayed" Is jira down or broken? Additionally has there been some type of "dummies guide to JIRA" created? I really don't get it

It's not just you - it is down for me now as well, and it worked previously.

I remember a similar thing happening in Sims Online.

Where's the best place to report broken things? The bug boards. Where do you go if the bug boards are broken? Nowhere.

I sent email to torley, jeska, and support, used the inworld IM for the Mental Lindens / Volunteers group and was advised by a volunteer to send email about such a thing to inworldsupport@secondlife.com .

Presumably this is an email address that gets reacted to quickly, and suggested for that reason, since the problem doesn't concern an inworld matter directly.

So, if the Jira breaks, where do we report the bug to?

Its been like that for about a week i just assumed it was me being unable to figure out how to log myself in. IN the past it took me several tries to login now it wont let me login at all.

I was blaming me but I guess I should not have...

Can everyone else log in? I just tried for 20 minutes, trying all kinds of voodoo and tricks and nothing worked. I can see the listings and such. It allows me to type in my name and password, but then the next screen does not show me as logged in and the vote link is not there. Aieee.

Did you start from jira.secondlife.com or from a link to an issue>

How do you vote for anything??? I can't find anything that will let me vote. Also it says "you will see more options if you log in" under operations, and I logged in and got the exact same screen...????

This post has information that worked for me on how to log-in and vote for something:

/327/08/183756/5.html#post1510693

It seems the key to make sure to login from the main page.

This might be due to your internet cache as opposed to JIRA itself (I'm not sure!). Try clearing your internet history/cache/cookies/etc and restarting your browser.

[Edit]:

Ha! I just checked it myself and you're absolutely right. What I did to get out of that was to go to the JIRA Homepage.. for some reason that registered me as being logged in, so I was able to search for and vote for an issue.

This has been happening to me as well. Something is bugged about the "log in" links on the jira issue pages. There's a REALLY ugly workaround for it.

when you want to log in:
  1. click "home" (top left corner)
  2. then click Log in (top right corner)
  3. enter your info and press the "go" button (submit, log in, whatever the button says)
  4. THEN go BACK in your browser history to the page you wanted to view
  5. refresh the page if neccessary.

The problem comes in, if you ACCIDENTALLY forget to do the above. if you log in using the links on the issue page, it seems you enter some sort of "Pseudo-logged state". The banner at the top thinks you are logged in, but the vote/edit panel (on the left) doesn't think you are. Clearing this can be a pain as well. Let's see if I can reproduce the clearin process:

If you clicked one of the "Log In" links on an issue page and attempted to log in (doesn't matter which, both are busted)... the browser will display as if you had not logged in, even though you now are. to clear this:
  1. click "home" (top left corner)
..........You will still not appear to be logged in.
  2. then click Log in (top right corner)
..........the page will now actually log you in.
  3. THEN go BACK in your browser history to the page you wanted to view
  4. refresh the page if neccessary.

This "Jira Log In Bug" has been annoying the hell out of me since the very first day I tried to vote on an issue. How the hell do we report a bug with JIRA ITSELF?

I've had the problem Winter describes consistently. If I want to take a Jira link, I open a new tab, go to jira and log in, go to the other tab, and click the link. When my brain cells are firing.

Not being able to get the jira system itself to work right does make one a bit cynical about the whole process.
