Heard, actually did read, that tem rez objects are now affecting prim count in parcels. So holo vendors are now pretty much useless?

Could you give a reference for that?

This has been the case for a while as far as I know, unless there has been a change.

The formula was:

temp_prim_limit = prim_limit - current_prim_count + min( 0.5 * current_prim_count + 400, 1000)

in the thread:

I am aware of the limit on temp on rez prims, but that is not what the OP said.

Bottom line is that for many (if not most) purposes the limits on temp on rez are not an issue and certainly don't obsolete holo vendors unless they are rezzing entire houses or very complex attachments.

The OP raised a query regarding temp on rez, supplemented by an enquiry, rather than a statement.

My comment re temp on rez (which affects holo vendors) remains as was.

Unless there is a further update, then holo vendors remain as they have been for months.

This doesnt address the main issue .... I understand a limt of the number of temp prims... but they didnt count against your land prim limit... now they do. I tested it and they show up in the land/object tab. So all the items in the holovendors will put people over their prim usage limit for malls and shopping areas etc.

The last time I checked (few weeks ago) they do count against an individual's prim count, but not against the parcel prim limit. I.e. if you have 200 prims, 20 of which are temp-on-rez then the parcel count will say 180 prims, but you"ll have 200 next to your name in the details.

Which actually makes sense, because if they didn't show up anywhere it would be virtually impossible for the land owner to know they're there, and to get rid of them when it turns out to be one of those spy tools, or a griefing tool.

If you are right ... thats great !! How can we find out a definite answer? :confused:

I will test it out tonight when I get home :)

Look at the prim count (the sum of individuals' prims should match the total number if there are no temp-on-rez prims).

Rez a few temporary prims (if you're using a plywood box, remember that just setting it temporary won't actually make it temporary until it's taken and rezzed from inventory) and check the numbers again.

There should be a discrepancy between the two numbers equal to the number of temp-on-rez prims you put out.

[Just tested since the grid is up now and it still works that way. Temp-on-rez prims don't count against the parcel prim limit, but they do show up in the detail view. All is well :)]
