I am not going to listen to much that you say, nimrod Yaffle (/327/96/149169/1.html). Why are you still here?

Because he's a lovable rogue? :D

Without nimrod Yaffle at the bottom, the house of cards might never have collapsed.

Going to blacken my name further for the sake of why I got blacklisted in the first place: facts rather than rumor about the copybot. I tried out copybot prior to the TOS declaration, and it can be used to copy individual objects, not just whole sims, so someone could use it to copy something of their own or an individual object that one has been granted rights to.

Give the libSl project a bit more time and they'll be able to steal everything within visible range with a button push, and for a bit of extra work steal whatever object you have targetted and leave the rest.

They just released copybot before they got to that point, but they are steadily on their way there. Think of CopyBot as a teaser product for teh super-theft client they make. After all, "From the creators of GodMode and CopyBot" is wonderful advertising.

True. LibSL kinda went too far this time. I was ok with some of their earlier work that really didn't hurt anyone, but thats no excuse for anyone to take their side. They released a really nasty hack that got everyone ticked. For that i say LL needs to grow some balls and block such things from being used.

I know textures and sounds can easily be hacked no matter what. but prims and scripts? THose are things that you wouldnt think are hackable. The LL permission system needs some serous work i swear...

I admit i used the GodMode hack they made, and i make every day use of the huge prims. But things like Copybot i consider wrong. to me its ok to have extra abilities if they only effect YOU but if they start effecting other people then your as bad as a griefer.

`(3) The information acquired through the acts permitted under paragraph (1), and the means permitted under paragraph (2), may be made available to others if the person referred to in paragraph (1) or (2), as the case may be, provides such information or means solely for the purpose of enabling interoperability of an independently created computer program with other programs, and to the extent that doing so does not constitute infringement under this title or violate applicable law other than this section.

`(4) For purposes of this subsection, the term `interoperability' means the ability of computer programs to exchange information, and of such programs mutually to use the information which has been exchanged.

What this is saying is that it's not illegal for them to make libSecondLife (because that's for the purpose of interoperability), but it is illegal to make CopyBot (because that runs into the "constitutes infringement under this title" bit).

Have you read the case of bnetd vs. Blizzard?

In my experience, the people doing the most shrieking and tearing of clothes usually only have the one good idea and are terrified of somebody stealing it. .

Really? Wow ... I sense that people that are not against copybot .... and are doing anything in the world to make it seem that people against CopyBot are just hysterical and are PRO-THEFT.

Yes I understand the good things it can do.. but the THEFT of anyones creations outweigh ANY .. and I mean ANY of the GOOD, and it needs to be fixed no matter what it takes.
