Sloooooow object rezzing, much less texture rezzing, multiple crashes on emptying trash, missing image avatars who never EVER rezz, and a stats window that reports everything is downloaded when your bandwidth meter is skyrocketing, everything is grey, and what textures you've got rezzed are fuzzy messes. THIS is better than the regular client HOW exactly?

Sorry, this particular version of First Look is one of the worst ever. Hell, I was pulling fps in the 120s and now I'm lucky to cross 40. This is NOT a version that should be released.

They did just put out a new First Look yesterday which seems to have solved a lot of the problems; I could edit notecards for example.

I have to say no. On a good day, the First look viewer looks exactly the same as the regular one. This morning, there are so many texture problems it's unusable. In one private sim, in a store that was only slightly busy, my av textures were blurry almost constantly; I kept having to rebake, and that only worked for a second. On my own land, the beach texture was so blurry (see here and here ) that you can't even tell it's sand. If this is the norm, I say no, don't release it... I don't want to have to deal with these texture problems constantly.

I'm happy when I get 4-6fps :(.

On-topic: if they're willing to go back to the current viewer, I'm all for pushing it out. It crashes for a significant amount of people, it degrades performance for most - that I've personally heard - people who have an older puter or card who were the primary target for the "optimized" rendering in the first place. Pushing it out and having it turn out into a disaster will cause them to abandon it, integrate the fixes into the main viewer, and dedicate their time to something more useful... hopefully.

Of course if should go live. It's ready. It performs better than the original client for most people. The code is cleaner and easier to maintain. It runs on more hardware that the original.

Blurry fuzzy or just plain fouled up codes! I investged in a 7900GTX to see how well i could run with a 4400amd 110 watts and a 100m up down connections. what have I seens with this setup and first look? Well CRASHING MISSING TEXTURES Blurring of landscapes and avies skins etc.........If anyone can say these are "REASON" mistakes that coders have created and we should still go green with this release monday! Then your asking for a nightmare IF steve linden and campany doesnt pull a rabbit out of his hat trick and realse a bang bang client! I really hope he does have a rabbit trick up his arm! Because frankly this first look release is nothing more then brokenm codes, misguilded support workers doing minor useless detail works. where instead they should be forusing on the stablity instead of MIRRORS, REflection and VOICE CHAT!

COME ON STEVE LINDEN we are behind you but.............releasing this client is nothing more then a quick release of pleasure then or permit pleasure of stabilty!

The FL viewer seems ok but I sure wish they'd fix the attachment bug once and for all (where your hair/shoes end up in your crotch upon TP'ing somewhere).

Ive been using it alongside the normal viewer and at the moment the normal viewer is wining out as FirstLook is certainly prone to crashing for me whilst the normal viewer continues to work.

I vote that it continues to be a work in progress its just a shame SL continues to degrade performance wise and still so many bugs to fix.

I will hold with the hope that LLs really does care but in the cold light of day all that matters to them is the bottom line. It wont be until a viable alternative to SL comes along built on new and better scalable technology and engines, with an economy etc. as we have here and the residents here then start to leave for the new world, that i believe LLs will start to take notice, but thats just my opinion.

Until that happens SL is all we have and i do believe that we should all continue to try and help make SL a better place for us all to co-exist :)

it is all I use any more... But it is not read y to go live ..Huds still require 2 clicks to activate, many many more bugs still. Many people still experiencing multiple crashes w/ it.
I believe they need to tweak some things some more, textures still slow and blurry even long delays in any texture at all.

on the good side it is faster and smoother running, I go off the charts in Client FPS, I mean 70's but of course thats to fast for the Server anyway, in a lag fest like Eventide in the xcite store I still get 30-40fps but the rez super slow.
I have a friend running on an old beater 64m nvidia and 300? ram that picks up about 5 fps with it to a more livable 12fps in sims with only a few AVs.
The missing water is fixed the TP from profile is fixed.

I voted no because it still needs some rendering work IMHO

Work in process is what needed........Not to release this in tot he wild just yet. People that have not really used First Look as offen of in problem areas around sl, do not really know the issues we are experience.

Since I unloaded Windows Vista, and re-loaded Windows XP x64 (without x64 SP2) this thing is flying! The previous to the previous FL wasn't rezzing all my stuff, but now things are better. Well done!

I've found the last few FL releases to be a little slower than before, which worries me a bit. OTOH the way the servers have been, lag may not even be client related anyway....

To throw another option in.. I vote for releaseing 1.14 as the main client, but also making a "safe mode" client in case of trouble.

Everyone likes change, but unless the fix the outstanding bugs.......forget it.with almost 5 million population and more and more afk users. First look will bright more crashes or missing textures more random crash etc.......Its not even May yet and we are experience all sort of issues. Come June well likes hope Steve Linden has a backup plan...

I voted Yes for the FL viewer. Both viewers have bugs in them. The current regular viewer has the inventory folder bug, the water bug, and some others I can't think of right now because I haven't used it in so long. I don't think LL is going to give us a flawless, absolutely debugged client anytime soon. Hopefully by going open source with the viewer we will get a bug-free viewer someday. We will just have to see if the latest version of FL will not be compatible with most people's machines. If this happens, there should be a rollback. Last night, before the server machine disaster and other problems, I was able to teleport very quickly using the latest FL. I bought a police car with a HUD, and all the functions work on every single click. My laptop was not built with 3D gaming in mind. If everyone is on a client that is geared towards performance improvement, the entire grid may speed up. Let's see what happens before we condemn it.

I only believe polls that only have 3 categories for voting. Yes, No, and I like pie. Anything else is just unscientific. :D
